Katie Price nearly sectioned by family after crash but mum ‘couldn’t do it’

Katie Price: Trauma and Me teaser revealed

Katie Price’s family spoke of having her sectioned following her car crash in September 2021.

In an emotional new interview, the 45-year-old’s mum, Amy, recalled everything “coming to a head” for the star when she flipped her BMW after drinking alcohol.

Her mother, 70, believes this was the first of two suicide attempts during a difficult period.

“I’d feared it would reach that point one day,” she said.

“After all the years of failed relationships, betrayals by friends, duplicitous managers and the painful loneliness she had experienced all her life.”

Amy spoke out as she launched her new memoir The Last Word — serialised in The Sun – recalling how she feared the worst.

She continued: “We seriously thought about sectioning Kate under the Mental Health Act, but I just couldn’t do that to my own daughter.”

Katie phoned her mum after the incident, which the reality star was later handed a 16-week jail sentence, suspended for a year, for, for drink-driving while disqualified.

Recalling their conversation, her mother said: “Kate began by apologising and then said, ‘I don’t want to be here.

“‘How am I still alive, Mum? I just don’t want to be here.’

“… Me, her stepdad Paul, brother Dan and sister Sophie had a conversation about attempting to have her sectioned to get her the help she so desperately needed but I just couldn’t go through with it.”

Amy could hear a man in the background telling mother-of-five Katie “you’ve got everything to live for”.

Her step-father later took the model from the police station to The Priory.

She claims to The Sun that Katie later attempted to take her life again by slashing her wrists.

The star is now in therapy and is being assessed for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Amy details other “deeply worrying suicide attempts” by Katie in her book.
