Kevin Spacey charged with four counts of sexual assault on three men

Kevin Spacey has been charged with four counts of sexual assault on three men.

Claims against the House of Cards actor first surfaced in 2017, with some of them dating back to 1996. He has previously denied all allegations against him.

Rosemary Ainslie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: “The CPS has authorised criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 62, for four counts of sexual assault against three men.

“He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The charges follow a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.”

As per BBC, The CPS said it could not confirm or deny whether or not Mr Spacey, an American, will need to be extradited to the UK.

The actor has kept a low profile in recent years, with Kevin's House of Cards character Frank Underwood being killed off ahead of the sixth season.

Lead actress Robin Wright, who plays Claire Underwood, took centre stage instead.

Kevin's acting career spans across three decades, with him making his acting debut in 1984 in Mike Nichols' Heartburn starring Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson.

He's since starred in other hit movies like American Beauty, The Unusual Suspects, Baby Driver, Pay It Forward, and A Bug's Life.

Kevin has won two Oscars, the first being in 1995 for Best Supporting Actor in The Usual Suspects for his role as gangster Keyser Söze.

He later took home a gong for Best Actor for his or his role in American Beauty, where he played Lester Burnham, an advertising executive who has a midlife crisis and becomes infatuated with his teenage daughter's best friend.

Most recently, Kevin starred in Peter Five Eight, which is one of the actor's first roles since he was accused of sexual assault in 2017.

The synopsis for the film, as per IMDb, reads: "A seemingly glamorous real estate agent in a small mountain community is revealed to be an unhinged alcoholic with a dark secret when a charismatic man in black shows up one day at the behest of his shadowy boss, proceeding to follow and taunt her everywhere she goes."

The film made its way to the Cannes Film Festival last week, but Kevin failed to attend the star-studded affair. Meanwhile, the likes of Bella Hadid, Julia Roberts, and Anne Hathaway were all spotted on the red carpet.

Peter Five Eight is expected to be released later this year.
