King Charles’ signature scent he ‘slathers on’ – and it’s Johnny Depp endorsed

King Charles’ signature scent has been revealed byPrince Harry in his bookSpare – and it is the cologne endorsed by Hollywood A-listerJohnny Depp.

The Duke of Sussex, writing in his tell-all memoir, described how his 74 year old father would ‘slather on’ Christian Dior’s Eau Sauvage over his cheeks, neck and shirt.

The fragrance, which costs around £100 for a 100ml bottle, is famously endorsed by actor Depp, 59. He first became the face of the scent in 2015 and has reportedly signed back on with Dior to continue to promote it for a seven-figure sum.

Harry, 38, revealed how Charles wore the fragrance in a section of Spare where he spoke of how his father was “always sniffing things”.

The Duke wrote: “Pa stopped by on his way to dinner. He was running late, but he made a show of lifting a silver dome – Yum, wish I was having that! – and taking a long sniff. He was always sniffing things. Food, roses, our hair. He must’ve been a bloodhound in another life.

“Maybe he took all those long sniffs because it was hard to smell anything over his personal scent. Eau Sauvage. He’d slather the stuff on his cheeks, his neck, his shirt. Flowery, with a hint of something harsh, like pepper or gunpowder, it was made in Paris. Said so on the bottle"'

Sauvage Eau de Parfum is described as smelling citrusy, musky, and spicy – giving the wearer a feeling of being fresh after the shower. The main notes are said to be ambroxan, bergamot and sichuan pepper.

Harry’s memoir was officially released on Tuesday – with the English language editionselling more than 1.4 million copies on its first day of publication, making it thefastest-selling non-fiction book ever.

Two years on from hiscontroversial interview with Oprah Winfrey, and just weeks after hisNetflix documentary series levelled a fresh round of damning claims against the monarchy, Spare has brought anew round of attacks on the Royal Family.

The Duke of Sussex does not hold back in the book – with criticism directed towardsPrince William andQueen Consort Camilla – as well as father King Charles and sister-in-lawKate Middleton.

Among the most explosive allegations in the book was one claim thatWilliam attacked Harry in a row over Meghan Markle – ripping his necklace and knocking him to the floor.

Harry also claimed that the Prince and Princess of Wales encouraged him to wear hisinfamous Nazi uniform to a 2005 fancy dress party.

In another section, he alleged his father King Charles told his later motherPrincess Diana that 'my work is done' after shegave birth to a 'spare' second son.

In another,Harry revealed he had killed 25 people while serving as an Apache helicopter pilot in Afghanistan.

The memoir also contains a number ofintimate revelations about King Charles – as well as someilluminating insights into royal life.

Meanwhile, King Charles beamed as he travelled to Aberdeenshire, Scotland, for his first royal visit since Spare was published.
