Liam Payne’s posing during Soccer Aid has viewers in stitches

One Direction ’s Liam Payne has Soccer Aid viewers in stitches over the weekend as he couldn't resist striking a pose in the changing room.

Taking the field as part of the England team, Liam joined forces with former Lioness Jill Scott, taking on the role of captain alongside the talented likes of Tom Hiddleston, Sir Mo Farah, and Jack Wilshere. On the sidelines, notable figures such as Stormzy, Vicky McClure, and Harry Redknapp watched the match, offering their guidance and expertise as part of the management and coaching team.

Meanwhile, the formidable World XI FC, led by the legendary Usain Bolt as captain, made an impressive start with the fastest man on Earth scoring the opening goal. Love Island heartthrob Tommy Fury and comedian Lee Mack were among the notable players on the team. By halftime, the scoreboard read 1-0 in favour of World XI, leaving the England squad slightly disheartened.

However, the experienced former manager and football star Harry was determined to lift the spirits of the players, delivering a motivational pep talk to rally their spirits for the second half. He told the players: “We're still bang in the game. We'll have a little change at halftime, we'll make a couple of changes. But keep that shape, don't all go charging forward.”

He added: “Especially you celebrities, play simple, if you can, give it to one of the pros, keep the ball simple, keep the ball moving, and keep a bit of shaping about it. Make sure we've always got bodies. Get back in the game, the game's here to be won.”

However, many viewers were distracted by a topless Liam hovering in the background showing off his muscular physique, running his hand through his hair and pouting, knowing full well his abs were in view.

One Twitter user mocked: '“Going live in 3,2…” Liam Payne “hang on while I take my shirt off” !!!!'

Another joked: “'Liam Payne just conveniently standing in prime slot for a shot of his torso.”

A third wrote: “Enjoying this year of Soccer Aid, where it's basically Tom Hiddleston running the ball out of play or Liam Payne constantly smouldering/posing.”

While a fourth was unimpressed, adding: “Liam Payne gives me the ick”.

After witnessing the footage, presenters Dermot O'Leary and Alex Scott couldn't help but also poke fun at the Strip That Down singer. The former X Factor host joked: “'That was somewhat distracting” , adding “'I love how the celebs with good bods have gone, "What's that? Am I in shot?"”

Joining in, Alex laughed: 'Liam Payne, "I'm in the camera, I'm in the camera!"'

The match finally comes after months of lead-up to the celebrity battle, and when it was first announced that Liam would be taking part in something with 24 year old Tommy, many were convinced it was going to be in the boxing ring. In an initial teaser, Liam shared a promotional mock-up poster with his fans on Instagram that pitted him and Tommy face-to-face.
