Love Island’s Olivia Bowen shares beautiful update to celebrate son’s first birthday

Olivia Bowen celebrated her son Abel's first birthday on Saturday June 10 by putting together an adorable montage of videos from the last year since giving birth.

The former Love Island star, who met husband Alex on the show and went on to welcome little one Abel six years later, shared the touching video with her 3.1M Instagram followers in celebration.

Getting emotional in the caption, she wrote: "The day you were born rolled into the year I was reborn as your Mum.
To the most special, challenging, beautiful year full of emotion, the biggest one being love. Happy First Birthday my baby."

Looking back on the last year, the video captured a collection of moments between the family of three – showing sweet holidays, Abel's first days in the hospital, precious moments at home and comical clips.

A number of celeb pals flocked to wish the little one a happy birthday, with TOWIE's Georgia Kousoulou writing: "Happy birthday Abel, how quick is time going !!"

"Happy birthday little man xxx," added Charlotte Dawson.

Olivia and Alex's five-bedroom abode was kitted out for the birthday celebrations too, with a giant blue balloon in the shape of the number one gracing the living room.

A golden crown balloon was placed on top of the number, while wrapped gifts sat below it and pictures of the family flashed up on the nearby TV.

Olivia and Alex are one of Love Island's success stories after meeting on the show in 2016 and going on to be the first couple from the show to wed just two years later in a lavish Essex ceremony.

They then welcomed baby Abel last year in what was a difficult birth for Olivia – with the star later sharing that 'nothing went to plan' during the labour.

After going into labour two days after her due date, Olivia explained how she had planned to give birth in a birthing pool, though welcomed her son via a forceps delivery after being “strongly advised” to do so by staff on the maternity unit.

“The beautiful birth I had planned and was so close to having was taken away in seconds,” she wrote in reference to hearing the initial news during her 30-hour long labour," she wrote in Silver Cross parenting platform The Edit.

“What I realise now when looking back is that you cannot control anything. Even though I thought I was prepared for things to go differently than I wanted, I ended up really disappointed and couldn’t control how gutted I felt.”

Although, she did add: “I have never and will never again feel the same rush of love I felt in that moment (unless I go for baby number two of course!)."
