Teething again

Ah, the joys of new parenthood over the holidays. Olivia Munn shared a series of posts on her Instagram Stories this week in which she detailed a sleepless night for her and John Mulaney as the stars navigated their 1-year-old’s teething progress. “We were awakened by a screaming Malcolm,” she told followers in one posted with a 12:14 a.m. timestamp, according to ET. Another video showed John trying to soothe their little guy by reading him a story. “He’s teething again,” Olivia explains in the post. Sharing a photo of John cradling Malcolm, Olivia wrote, “Looks like we’ll be having a Christmas molar.” In the meantime, the fam seems to be getting little to sleep. Subsequent videos showed Olivia attempting to take her glasses off before she gets them tangled up in her long hair and holding her sleepy face in her hands. “It’s too f-** late for this nonsense,” she captioned one Stories post. Olivia and John welcomed Malcolm in November 2021, following John’s rehab stint earlier that year. He referenced both getting sober and becoming a dad when he hosted “Saturday Night Live” in February. “Life is a lot better and happier now,” John said. “I have a 12-week-old son. I’m very excited, he is a pretty cool guy for someone who can’t vote. His legs are like little calzones, and I want to eat him.”

Christina Applegate’s sense of humor is helping her manage her multiple sclerosis, though she admits she struggles with the truth about her diagnosis. The “Dead To Me” star stopped by “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Friday (Dec. 23), and spoke candidly about how she’s been getting by since she learned she suffers from the often painful and life-altering central nervous system condition in 2021. “My humor shield keeps me OK, but of course, down on the insides, you feel the things and I do it to kind of deflect and then also make people not be scared to be around me,” Christina told Kelly, according to Page Six. “You know, when people see me now as a disabled person, I want them to feel comfortable. That we can laugh about it.” Asked about forging ahead with the end of “Dead To Me” despite how she was feeling, Christina explained that it was important she be able to complete the project. “To be honest, being diagnosed with MS last year and what happened to my body, to my mind, to my spirit, to my everything, of course, I didn’t want to be around anyone or talk about it, but I had to go to work,” she said. “It was like a part of my family. Linda Cardellini, Liz Feldman, everyone there is my family. And there’s a story that we didn’t get to finish, and I pushed as hard as I could through that so, it was really incredibly difficult.” Christina said she initially “went to sleep for a few months” before braving the spotlight again. “People had seen me as this other person for the last, almost 40 years, and I’m different now and it’s incredibly hard.”

Jeff Garlin lands new TV role after leaving ‘The Goldbergs’ amid allegations of inappropriate behavior

Jeff Garlin is heading back to the small screen on “Never Have I Ever” after exiting his long-running role on “The Goldbergs” amid allegations of inappropriate behavior on the set. On the upcoming final season of Mindy Kaling’s Netflix series, Jeff is set to play Len, “a sweet man” who makes “Nirmala reconsider if she really is done with relationships forever,” Entertainment Weekly reported on Thursday (Dec. 22). Prior to his departure from “The Goldbergs,” Jeff was accused by multiple colleagues of “a pattern of verbal and physical conduct on set that made people uncomfortable.” Speaking to Vanity Fair in December 2021, the actor said he’d been the focus of an HR investigation for three years. “My opinion is, I have my process about how I’m funny, in terms of the scene and what I have to do,” he told the outlet at the time. “They feel that it makes for a quote ‘unsafe’ workspace. Now, mind you, my silliness making an unsafe workspace — I don’t understand how that is. And I’m on a comedy show. I am always a kind and thoughtful person.” He maintained ABC did not fire him. Jeff’s exit from the show — his character was killed off going into the tenth season — was reportedly a mututal decision agreed upon by the actor and showrunners.

Newly ‘un-retired’ actress Cameron Diaz spotted on set with Jamie Foxx

Cameron Diaz is officially back on-set four years after announcing her retirement from acting. On Thursday (Dec. 22), Cameron was photographed alongside Jamie Foxx on the London set of their upcoming Netflix action-comedy, (the appropriately titled) “Back In Action,” according to the Daily Mail. Both stars were bundled up with red blankets wrapped around them as they worked with Glenn Close and other cast and crew members. Cameron, 50, confirmed she was retiring in 2018, one year before she and her husband Benji Madden welcomed their daughter, Raddix. But in June 2022, Cameron’s friend and “Annie” co-star Jamie, 55, tweeted outa hilarious recording of the call he orchestrated to coerce Cameron out of retirement for the new movie. The clip featured Cameron admitting she’s “anxious” about the prospect of acting again, before Jamie reveals he’s brought in a special helper to assist with all her un-retirement needs.  “Cameron, it’s the G.O.A.T.,” Jamie tells Cameron, who he clearly knows is a huge football fan. “What? Tom? Oh my god … is this Tom Brady?” she says, laughing. The recently un-retired NFL quarterback then says Jamie told him “you needed a few tips at un-retiring.” Cameron cracks up again, then says hearing from Tom is “honestly, exactly what I needed, here.” 

Jamie Lee Curtis slams ‘nepo babies conversation’ as hurtful by design

As a self-professed “OG nepo baby,” Jamie Lee Curtis weighed in on the conversation around privileges enjoyed by scions of successful entertainment industry families after New York Magazine’s “The Year of the Nepo Baby” went viral earlier this week. Jamie, whose parents were Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, shared a lengthy Instagram post in which she criticized the assumption actors with famous parents only got where they are because of their parents’ success. Reflecting on how she got her start at 19 as an actress, Jamie wrote in part that she’ll never know “what qualities got me hired that day, but since my first two lines on Quincy as a contract player at Universal Studios to this last spectacular creative year some 44 years later, there’s not a day in my professional life that goes by without my being reminded that I am the daughter of movie stars.” She continued: “The current conversation about nepo babies is just designed to try to diminish and denigrate and hurt. For the record I have navigated 44 years with the advantages my associated and reflected fame brought me, I don’t pretend there aren’t any, that [sic] try to tell me that I have no value on my own.” Jamie writes that “it’s curious how we … make assumptions and snide remarks” suggesting people with famous parents “would somehow have no talent whatsoever” without them. “I have come to learn that is simply not true,” she concludes, adding that she’s always “tried to bring integrity and professionalism and love and community and art to my work.” Jamie adds that “there are many of us” who, like her, are “dedicated to our craft. Proud of our lineage. Strong in our belief in our right to exist.” Quoting “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” she ends with the message, “BE KIND.”
