Pete Davidson’s furious voicemail to PETA after it slams him for buying new dog

Pete Davidson has clashed with PETA regarding his puppy purchase, escalating the conflict by leaving a strongly worded voicemail for the animal rights organisation. PETA reported that the actor directed the heated message to Daphna Nachminovitch, their Senior VP of Cruelty Investigations.

Pete obtained her name after she released a statement to TMZ, expressing PETA's collective disappointment over his decision to buy a puppy from a New York pet store instead of adopting from a shelter. In the voicemail, Pete introduces himself and addresses Daphna's statement, which he describes as uninformed and premature.

He explains that he suffers with a dog allergy, which is why he had to get a cavapoo, a breed known for being almost hypoallergenic due to their minimal shedding. Pete explains that he purchased the dog for his mother, who recently lost her previous companion.

Following this, he launches into a passionate rant, full of explicit language. He instructs Daphna to conduct thorough research before speaking to the media, drops an F-bomb, and makes a vulgar suggestion.

PETA then responded, tellingTMZ: "If Pete had done his research, he would know that there’s no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog, that at least a quarter of dogs in shelters are purebreds, and that Petfinder has listings for homeless dogs of every breed under the sun, including the one he purchased."

Pete then went on to explain that his anger came from a place of grief: “I haven't seen my mom and sister cry like that in over 20 years. I was trying to cheer up my family. I was already upset that the store had filmed me without my permission or acknowledgement.

“Then this organisation (PETA) made a public example of us, making our grieving situation worse. I am upset. It was a poor choice of words. I shouldn't have said what I said, but I am not sorry for standing up for myself and my family."

Back in May, Pete shared a heartfelt tribute dedicated to their late pup, posted to social media by friend Dave Sirus. The comedian wrote: "My mom, sister and I got Henry at the beginning of the pandemic and he saved our lives. Not sure id even be around without him. He was the happiest and sweetest dog ever."

Pete continued: "He was truly the best. My mom, sister and I are broken and will miss him forever. We love you Henry. Thank you for making our lives fuller and reminding me what actually matters."
