Prince Harrys secret UK visit before the Queens death revealed
Prince Harry made a secret visit to Gravesham's youth service during his stay in the UK in September, it has been revealed.
The 38 year old Prince met with a group of young people from The Gifted Young Gravesham (GYG), a partner organisation to 5Rights Foundation – a group focused on improving online safety.
The Duke of Sussex, who now resides in Montecito, California with his wife Meghan Markle and their children, made the announcement via his website, Archewell, that he shares with wife Meghan, 41.
On September 7, the day before the Queen's death, a photograph of a smiling Harry, stood with the GYG members, was posted to the website.
Underneath the snap, which is filed under the 'stories' section of the website, readers are told a bit about Harry's visit, including how the group members shared "personal stories".
It read: "As part of Archewell Foundation’s ongoing commitment to a future of tech that works for families, Archewell Foundation hosted a conversation with Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex and the amazing young people of The Gifted Young Gravesham (GYG), a partner organization to 5Rights Foundation, an Archewell ally focused on improving online safety for young people everywhere.
"The young adults shared personal stories about how social media affects their mood, well-being, and interactions with peers, teachers, and family. These important stories and experiences continue to help leaders contextualize the global conversation around online harms and inspire new partnerships, ideas, and policies for solving the challenges young people and parents face in a digital world."
It was purely coincidence that Harry and Meghan happened to be in the UK at the time of the Queen's death, as they arrived on 3 September to undertake a number of pre-planned engagements.
It was set to be a triumphant return to the country they left barely more than two years prior, as they quit their roles as senior royals and fled to live a new life in America.
Along with Harry's meeting with the GYG, they also did a trip to Manchester on 5 September for the One Young World Summit, before travelling to Germany for the Invictus Games Dusseldorf One Year to Go event on 6 September.
All their best-laid plans for the rest of the trip got thrown into disarray at the announcement of the Queen's death on September 8, with Harry forced to scramble to Balmoral Castle with the rest of the royals.
Harry was supported by Meghan, as he grieved his beloved grandmother, and joined his family in taking part in the many official royal funeral engagements that followed the death of Britain's longest serving and much-loved monarch.
