Prince William & Princess Catherine RELIEVED Meghan Markle Won’t Be Attending King Charles’ Coronation!
Prince William and Princess Catherine AKA Kate Middleton are breathing a sigh of “relief” knowing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s answer to King Charles‘ invite to his coronation!
After a bunch of back-and-forth reports about Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s attendance at the event, Buckingham Palace finally revealed on Wednesday that the 38-year-old prince would be heading across the pond to go to the ceremony at Westminster Abbey in May. But as for Meghan? Well, she is staying back in Montecito, California with their two children Archie – who is turning four on the day of the coronation — and their 1-year-old daughter Lilibet.
The news of the couple’s decision most likely will have several members of the royal family pleased, including Prince William and Princess Catherine. In fact, royal expert Eloise Parker told Entertainment Tonight that the two are feeling very relieved that Meghan won’t be joining Harry at the ceremony next month. Why is that? She said that there now won’t be so much attention on William and Catherine’s feud with the Sussexes, explaining:
“I think there’s bound to be some relief from William and Kate that Meghan won’t be attending the coronation simply because less emphasis is going to be on them, who’s looking where, who’s lip reading, what’s going on between them. There’s such a fever of interest in these relationships and the truth is we’re never going to see a Real Housewives moment between these women.”
Sorry folks, there won’t be a Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga public showdown. Lolz! She added:
“Everything is going to be kept firmly under wraps and I think for Kate, the fact that Meghan isn’t attending, helps her keep it that way.”
And we all know how hard it was for Princess Catherine to even be around Meghan and Harry shortly after Queen Elizabeth II’s death last year. As for Harry, Eloise noted that everyone is pleased to hear Harry will be there for the big day:
“My first reaction is relief that Harry is going to be at his father’s coronation. It would have been an incredibly sad time if he hadn’t attended at all. It’s, of course, not ideal that only half of his family is going — with Meghan staying home — but I think it’s a safe solution given all the drama that we’ve seen over the past year or two.”
As you know, Meghan and Harry’s relationship with the royal family has been on the rocks for a long time. Things only worsened once the pair left their roles as senior members of the royal family in 2020 – and they dropped bombshell after bombshell about the royals through their interview with Oprah Winfrey, their six-part Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, and Harry’s bestselling memoir Spare.
Despite the bitter feud, King Charles reportedly wanted to have Meghan and his son at the coronation. Eloise noted how “it’s extraordinary” how things have changed since Charles walked the former actress down the aisle on her wedding day five years ago – and now, she won’t even be at this historic event for her father-in-law:
“It was an incredibly intimate act and an incredibly public event. But this amount of fracture in just five years — to go from walking your daughter-in-law down the aisle to not having her attend the biggest event of your life — we’re seeing an extraordinary fracture in that relationship.”
She continued:
“Harry even wrote in his book how well Meghan and Charles got along, so it’s extraordinary to see there’s a sense of real sadness. That she’s not going to be at this event, that things have gotten so bad that she would rather not set foot on British soil. I think, unfortunately, this is a testament not just to Meghan’s fractured relationship with her family, but to her fractured relationship with Britain as a whole.”
Oof. And for those hoping Harry, William, and Charles will come together and have a heart-to-heart chat, you might not want to hold your breath – at least, according to Eloise. She explained that since his father and brother will be “pulled in a million different directions” that day, they won’t have time for a lengthy discussion on their feud:
“This event really is like a giant wedding. It’s everyone you’ve ever met plus plenty of people you haven’t, so Charles and William, they’re gonna be pulled in a million different directions. It would be extraordinary to think they would have even a minute with Harry to even say hello, let alone heal the royal rift. So I think this is not going to be that time. Let’s hope Harry or Charles or William can carve out some time once the dust has settled to really start making some inroads of their personal relationships.”
At this point, it does not seem Charles and William are willing to wave the white flag anytime soon. Reactions, Perezcious readers? Are you surprised Meghan won’t be attending the coronation? Let us know in the comments below.
