Spice Girls sends fans wild as they tease Spiceworld 25th anniversary

Fans of Spice Girls are set to be in for a treat as the group's official Twitter page has teased a special announcement to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

Posted on Tuesday 12 July, the tweet had the hashtag "Spiceworld25" with an animation of a spinning globe alongside a silver banner going across it that had the same phrase written across it – clearly referencing the branding from their second album from back in 1997.

The website for the girl group, who were initially rumoured to reunite for the Queen's Jubilee, has also been updated with the same spinning globe, teasing fans with exciting news around Victoria Beckham, 48, Mel C, 48, Mel B, 47, Emma Bunton, 46, and 49 year old Geri Halliwell.

Fans immediately flocked to the same social media channel to share their thoughts as one person wrote: "What’s the meaning of this????? Take all my money but tour the World!"

Another shared: "Tell us you're coming back, tell us some good news, new music, new world tour?" as a third said: "Already been to one reunion and you’ll be wrong if you think I won’t go again".

Last year, the group released a repackaged album with rare demos and previously unreleased track Feed My Love alongside remastered recordings.

It comes after the Spice Girls recently paid tribute to Danielle Hampson after she died suddenly before her wedding to X-Factor star Tom Mann.

Tom posted an update to his Instagram on Monday to announce that Dani, his fiancée and mother to his eight-month old child, Bowie, had passed away suddenly in the early hours of Saturday, 18 June.

Since confirming his partner's tragic passing, a number of celebrities have come forward with tributes for Dani – who worked as a dancer as well as a PR Executive – working with artists such as Little Mix and Take That.

Another group that she worked with was the Spice Girls, who have since posted a tribute to her on their social media, with Geri Halliwell posting an additional tribute on hers.

On the main Spice Girls account, they posted to their story showing Dani dancing as part of the Spiceworld 2019 tour.

They wrote: "We were very saddened to hear of the passing of Dani Hampson, who was part of the Spiceworld 2019 family. Sending love and strength to Tom, Bowie, and Dani's family and friends."

Meanwhile, Geri posted a photo of Dani dancing alongside her to her main Instagram grid with "Dani forever in our thoughts" written on the photo.

She captioned the post: "Rest in Peace Dani. We love you. From all of House of Ginger."
