‘You’re incredible, and I admire your strength. I know what a difficult time this must be for you. The end of a relationship is traumatic. Sending love and light,’ another wrote.

It comes days after Collette posted a dark, eerie painting of a solitary tree in a field.

Her post last Friday worried some of her fans, who feared the sombre post was a reflection of her mental state.

The actress’ soon-to-be ex-husband was recently pictured passionately kissing another woman at a Sydney beach.

Galafassi, who was a drummer in an indie rock band when he met the Muriel’s Wedding star, was pictured last Wednesday taking an early morning dip at Manly with chiropractor Shannon Egan.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Collette’s management about the photographs on Wednesday afternoon and hours later she announced the couple had split in a joint statement on her newly-reactivated Instagram account.

‘It is with grace and gratitude that we announce we are divorcing,’ the pair wrote. ‘We’re united in our decision and part with continuing respect and care for each other.

‘Our kids are of paramount importance to us and we will continue to thrive as a family, albeit a different shape. We’re thankful for the space and love you grant us as we evolve and move through this transition peacefully. Big thanks.’

Collette reactivated her Instagram account just days ago when she shared a photo of herself drinking from a ‘Happy Birthday’ cup with the caption: ‘I’m back. Hello world. I love you.’

Collette and Galafassi announced last Thursday they had decided to amicably part ways. (The former couple is pictured in happier times at a red carpet event in Los Angeles)

In Daily Mail Australia’s exclusive pictures, Galafassi was seen hugging and kissing 41-year-old Egan in the water and on the sand in front of other swimmers.

The pair arrived at the beach about 7.30am, spent 15 minutes in the water, then bought a coffee. One witness said the couple was ‘all over each other’.

At one point they appeared deep in conversation as Galafassi rested on a sea wall and Egan, wearing an open shirt and sunglasses, leant forward.

Hours before her divorce announcement, Collette posted a cryptic note to Instagram stating: ‘No matter what your current circumstances are, if you can imagine something better for yourself, you can create it.’

Who is Dave Galafassi’s beach companion Shannon Egan?

The mystery woman snapped passionately kissing Hollywood great Toni Collette’s musician husband is a 41-year-old chiropractor from Sydney’s northern beaches.

Shannon Egan is an ‘integrative chiropractor’ with more than 15 years of clinical experience who has had her own serious health problems, according to an online profile.

‘Having a passion for healthy living, Shannon has extended her skills specifically in the areas of women’s health, mind-body connection and children’s health,’ the profile states.

‘Shannon has a special interest in empowering women to live a calm, connected and inspired life. Shannon also loves treating kids and enjoys seeing them reach their full potential; confident in their own body and be full of vitality.’

Ms Egan graduated from Macquarie University in 2004 with two degrees – a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and a Masters of Chiropractic.

‘Through her own health challenges in recovering from a chronic illness, Shannon understands the complexities of health and the need for an integrative approach, both medically and holistically,’ her profile states.

‘The years during and after her illness and recovery gave her a deep understanding of what it means to face a life-threatening disease.

‘Consequently, she became fascinated by the emotional experience of illness. It fuelled a lifelong exploration into spiritual growth, meditation and the mind-body connection.’
