Union J’s Jaymi Hensley quits band and sparks feud claims with telling comment

Union J's Jaymi Hensley has announced that he has quit the band, and his comments about a "decaying legacy" have sparked rumours of a feud.

The 33 year old made the revelation on social media, where he posted a lengthy statement, which comes after fans were angered at the cancellation of their comeback tour.

Jaymi's statement in full, read: "To all the Union J fans, it is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to say I am no longer continuing on my journey as a member of Union J.

"Since day one, our family of fans has brought me love, light and support and has been the main reason for me being such a driving force within the band."

Talking about their sell-out reunion show at the London Palladium in 2022, he continued: "Last year was the best year of my life being back out on stage with the boys and being in front of you all again.

"I hoped and dreamed of all possibilities afterwards, but this has not happened for several reasons, and therefore, out of love & respect to the family of fans and my integrity as an artist, I cannot sit and watch the legacy that I have tried to sustain for a decade decay any further.

"I will continue to carry artistry, integrity and creativity as my driving force, but now is the time to focus the energy I have consistently put into Union J into myself and create art and music for us all to enjoy together.

"I truly love you, forever yours."

His post had fans rushing to speculate that there was some discord between Jaymi and the rest of the group.

One person said: "Sounds like either bad management or breakdown within the group of men totally shouldn’t have gone and announced a tour if things weren’t right and solid to begin with should know better."

Another commented: "Sounds like there has been a falling out and that's really sad, I'm a TW [The Wanted] fan and we lost Tom [Parker] a year ago and it shows life is too short. His brothers in the band would give anything to have him back so Hopefully you can make amends if there is any bad blood."

In August 2022, Jaymi posted a snap of the foursome together as he wrote: "I love you boys than you will ever know!!" in a tribute to his bandmates.

Union J was originally made up of three members, including Jaymi, JJ Hamblett and Josh Cuthbert, who got their big break on the X Factor in 2011.

The judges, however, made them into a group of four with the addition of fellow contestant George Shelley.

None of the other Union J boys have reacted or made reference to Jaymi's announcement that he has left the band.

OK! has contacted reps for Union J for comment.
