As a member of the Spice Girls her nickname was Posh Spice, but it could well have been Serious Spice as Victoria Beckham was rarely seen cracking a smile. Indeed, the pop star turned fashion designer is as famous for her pout as her accomplishments. But a gushing 49th birthday tribute from husband David has shed a light on her less serious side.
In a story posted to his Instagram the 47-year-old former footballer posted several images and a clip of his wife enjoying her celebrations.
He particularly relished a short video clip of the star crashing headfirst into the sea.
As Victoria, wearing a black swimsuit and dark shades, wobbles on a surfboard with what seems to be an instructor at the head of it, David narrates.
“This is not gonna end well. Birthday girl. Here she goes! Yep,” as Victoria flies headfirst into the water.
The video was just part of a story with a series of throwback and new images of his wife.
He followed the video with a cute picture of him and Victoria in the water with their daughter Harper.
He also put paid to the myth that she doesn’t eat, posting an image of her eating a huge piece of cake on which he wrote: “Yep and she eats cake.”
On his main Instagram page he uploaded a cute throwback picture of himself and Victoria in which she again flashes a smile as he gently kisses her nose.
He captioned the pic: “Happy birthday to the most amazing wife and mummy x someone who inspires us every single day we love you and you deserve to have the most perfect day happy Birthday.” (sic)
Instead of full stops he used heart emojis to punctuate the post and tagged Victoria and the couple’s four children Romeo, Brooklyn, Cruz and Harper who also chimed in to wish her many happy returns.
Footballer Romeo, 20, shared a picture of the pair cuddled up together underneath which he wrote: “Happy birthday to the best mum out there love you so much.”
Eldest son Brooklyn, 24, shared a recent picture of himself and wife Nicola with his parents which he captioned: “Happy birthday mum we love you so much what an amazing family day xx.” (sic)

The family day he referred to was the couple’s first anniversary celebrations just over a week ago where the picture was taken.
Cruz, 18, shared a picture to his stories of him in his mum’s arms as a baby which he captioned: “Happy birthday @victoriabeckham I love you so much,” which he followed with two heart emojis.
Victoria’s fellow Spice Girls also took to social media to send her greetings.
Melanie C cheekily wrote: “Happy Birthday @victoriabeckham ! If you’re feeling a bit old today remember we’re still younger than Geri! (Love you Ginge!)” (sic)
Seemingly unoffended by the reference to her age Geri also sent Victoria her well-wishes.
She wrote: “Happy Birthday @victoriabeckham! Wishing you a fantastic year ahead xxx,” alongside two images of the pair during their Spice Girls days.
Meanwhile, Baby Spice Emma Bunton shared a video montage set to the group’s song Say You’ll Be There.
She captioned it: “Happy birthday @victoriabeckham! You’re a superwoman! My Spice sister, we love you to bits!”
