You’re Never Gonna Believe Which Iconic Pop Star Counts Selena Gomez as a Babysitter

If you thought your babysitter was cool, Jessica Simpson’s kids are sure to give you a run for your money. The singer recently filmed an Instagram Live video with American Express Business and revealed that her 10-year-old daughter Maxwell Drew—whom she shares with husband and former NFL player Eric Johnson—went to her first concert with none other than her babysitter Selena Gomez.

While speaking with host Suneel Gupta, Jessica began by talking about the connection she and her kids have to music more broadly. “They like to come down to the studio when I’m singing, and I started doing that when I was pregnant with Birdie…I involve them,” she mused, before sharing she had mixed feelings about her oldest daughter going to her first concert without her.

“I was sad when Maxwell got to go to her first concert…Olivia Rodrigo she went to,” the “With You (which, BTW, is still a certified bop) singer revealed. “Selena Gomez was her babysitter, so she went with Selena. She met a really good friend of Selena’s little sister, so Max got to go to her first concert.” Jessica did note that Maxwell has seen her mom perform with Willie Nelson before, though before seeing Olivia with Selena, she hadn’t had a full concert experience. “I always thought it was going to be me as her first concert, but she’s 10 years old—she’s got to see a live show. So thank you Olivia Rodrigo for that show. And thank you Selena for being a great babysitter,” she finished.

Jessica also used the forum to talk about how she finds balance as a mom of three. The singer shares three kids with Eric: daughters Maxwell Drew, 10, Birdie Mae, 3, and son Ace Knute, 8. “Maxwell loves animals, and I’m like let’s do like a pet line…She’s great at drawing, and she picks color pallets, she draws. But she designs so great and it’s so cute. And she is unreal on TikTok, like that girl can edit better than most—it’s shocking. So I always go to Maxwell for advice and I feel like she’s way more on trend than I am,” she said of her eldest.

Just a few days ago, the shoe designer celebrated a major milestone: her 42nd birthday. In an Instagram, she penned a powerful and inspiring message to herself in honor of the day and shared the following to her 6.1 million followers:

She also gave fans an inside look at her birthday celebration, which was shared with many friends and family including her husband and parents Tina and Joe Simpson on her Insta Story. She even capped off the night by blowing out a stunning sparkler candle on a green birthday cake!

Jessica and her family are kind of winning at life right now, and I, for one, am here for it!
