AJ Odudu swaps swooshy sharp bob for Marilyn Monroe glam blonde

We were literally just in the middle of admiring AJ Odudu’s swooshy bob when she turned up at the British Fashion Council Fashion Awards on Monday night with a whole new look.

And what a new look it was: from her deep natural black hair to absolutely platinum blonde. The presenter tagged the new 'do with the words “Me x Marilyn” and asked, “Do blondes have more fun? I’m about to find out.” She certainly looked like she was having a great time with the new look.

As she arrived on the red carpet she was greeted by hosts Miquita Oliver and Vogue columnist Raven Smith who both looked amazed by the transformation, with Miquita literally jumping up and down with excitement and Raven joking, “It’s Marilyn Monroe!”

AJ revealed to them that the funniest thing was that no one was recognising her with the new hair. When Miquita asked if she really was having more fun, AJ was cautious. “I tell you what, not right now because I’m freezing, but once I get inside, who knows?” she said.

The look was created by London-based hairdresser Tracy Stylez, who revealed the custom-made wig was from Royal Crowns. Supporting a great British designer, AJ went for a glittery lime green dress by Stella McCartney, which is currently on sale – but don’t get too excited as it’s still a rather eye-watering £4,180.

AJ also shared a video of herself in a car on the way to the awards, a call back to a video she’d posted only a few short days ago, looking glossy and primped to perfection with a straight sharp bob. Her hair just skimmed her shoulders, with a pin-sharp centre parting and poker-straight lengths. We’ve looked closely and there is not a single hair out of line. It’s perfection.

This look was for the Women in Film and Television Awards and fans were loving it. “You look stunning AJ, fabulous work darling!” said one, while another simply asked, “Babe – why are you so FIRE?”

AJ has revealed that growing up, she did not always have such a great relationship with her hair, especially in the rainy Blackburn weather, which could undo hours of styling in minutes. She told Cosmopolitan magazine, “I wish I could go back and love my hair and not be so influenced by everyone else telling me that it was ‘difficult, rough, too this and too that’. I wish I could go back and say: ‘it's absolutely fantastic, thank you very much’.”
