Bethenny Frankel Defends Herself Amid Backlash For Flaunting $2 Million Engagement Ring

Bethenny Frankel has been engaged to Paul Bernon since 2021, but only recently did the reality star face backlash after flaunting her massive diamond ring online.

Last week, Bethenny posted a TikTok flaunting the diamond. It was set to Angel Laketa Moore’s TikTok-viral “One Margarita,” which describes performing different sexual acts based on the number of drinks. But Bethenny changed “margaritas” with “carats” to refer to her big rock.

While the video seems to have been meant to be light-hearted, many of Bethenny’s followers felt like the post was out-of-touch and braggy.

Interestingly, the former Real Housewives star felt compelled to respond to some of the backlash, and soon found herself defending the video in the comments section.

“This makes me sick,” one person, who said she was a single mom, wrote. “The rich just keep getting richer and the middle class keep getting f—– down to the poor.. but by all eans Mrs. Frankel you totally DESERVE this.”

To this, Bethenny wrote, “Then you should maybe do something and help some people…. Go to a shelter.”

Similarly, after another comment called Bethenny “showy,” she replied, “Good for you. You may also not have a sense of humor so you can’t show that off.”

Some of the comments were more concerned with how fake the ring looks, given it’s large size. “Like there are some fake rings that look a lot better than that,” one person wrote. “It’s not about the size, it’s about the quality of the stone and that stone is big but it’s a dead stone.”

Bethenny brushed off the comment, writing, “Lol tell Oscar Heyman that. U a gemologist?”

The exact cost of Bethenny’s engagement ring is unknown, but it’s been estimated to be worth $2 million. It features three diamonds in total and has more than 10 carats.

Earlier this month, Bethenny reflected on Paal Bernon’s proposal, which she said felt like something out of movie or TV show.

“He walked me to a beautiful private table on the beach, as private and romantic as a fantasy date on The Bachelor,” she wrote on Instagram. “The intimate details of the story are private but it was a beautiful proposal, in a beautiful setting, with a beautiful ring, to a beautiful man.”

Paul is a film producer with an estimated net worth of up to $20 million, while Bethenny’s wealth is largely from reality TV and her Skinnnygirl wine brand, giving her a reported fortune of $80 million.
