Biden sent Finnegan – named after his mother – to the Coronation

Finnegan Biden, 23, appeared at Westminster Abbey today to watch the Coronation of King Charles III.

The daughter of Hunter Biden wore a lemon yellow dress, in a look dubbed one of the best of the day be an expert.

She stood by her grandmother in lieu of President Joe Biden, who chose to stay at home in Washington for the event.

The President claimed he couldn’t make the Coronation because, as he told MSNBC this weekend: “I have this going on”.

So, who is Finnegan Biden? Who is she named after and why did she attend the Coronation?

Who is Finnegan Biden?

Finnegan Biden is one of Biden’s seven grandchildren and one of Hunter Biden’s five offspring.

Her older sister Naomi Biden married in a lavish ceremony at the White House last year, appearing on the cover of Vogue.

Finnegan graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2021 and has a degree in American Studies.

She has been a politically active student, campaigning against the university’s pass/fail system.

She also took part in a campaign in high school during which female students came in wearing t-shirts that read “I’m not the distraction”.

She told 34th Street Magazine: “You have to be the change you want to see. Anything as little as just writing a petition. I hope everyone else can realize that it’s not that hard. But you have to do it.”

Although she is politically active, Finnegan had no role in the Coronation.

A White House statement said: “There is no official US delegation. Finnegan is a plus one.

“As we’ve noted before with other family travel, historically, family members of Presidents have frequently joined them during travel. Current practices are consistent with those used by prior Administrations.”

Jill and Finnegan coordinated to make a political statement at the Coronation today, it appeared, wearing the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

Who is Finnegan Biden named after?

Finnegan is named after an important person in Joe Biden’s life, his mother. Biden’s mother was born Catherine Eugenia Finnegan.

She has been described as “formidable” by him and supported him through the death of his first wife and young child.

He said: “She told me, ‘Joey, God sends no cross you cannot bear.'”

Catherine’s family was Irish American, and they lived in Scranton, Pennsylvania, an area with a strong Irish population.

The name “Finnegan” is an Anglicisation of the Irish surname Ó Fionnagáin. It means fair or fair-haired.
