Cadbury SCRAPS iconic easter treat leaving fans 'fuming' | The Sun

CADBURY has scrapped an iconic easter treat a decade after its introduction and fans are "fuming".

Mondelez, which owns Cadbury, justified the move and said that it reflects "changing tastebuds".

But fans of the easter treat disagree and have called the move a "crime".

Mondelez has told The Sun that it has discontinued Cadbury's Egg 'n' Spoon cartons.

It means that the chocolate eggs won't be available this easter.

Cadbury fans have reacted to the news on TikTok after a user posted a video which hinted that the chocolate is gone for good.

One viewer said: "Omg I am fuming, they are my favourite."

"I've literally been looking everywhere for them because I love them so much and now it makes sense why I can't find them," said another.

Another viewer responded and said: "This is an absolute crime. Cadbury's bring them back."

Cadbury's Dairy Milk Egg ‘n’ Spoon product was made up of a purple egg box which contained four chocolate eggs wrapped in foil and set alongside two purple spoons.

Inside the hard chocolate shells, fans could scoop out a delicious chocolate mousse.

The Egg 'n' Spoon cartons were first launched in the UK in 2013 and various iterations hit the shelves over the last decade.

Last year, Cadbury released Oreo-based Egg 'n' Spoon chocolate eggs which contained a fluffy chocolate mousse with crunchy Oreo pieces.

Customers were able to back the four eggs for just £2 from Asda and Tesco last April.

But while the product is still listed on some supermarket websites the product is now permanently unviable.

A Mondelez International spokesperson said: "We’re always listening to our Cadbury fans to ensure our Easter range includes their favourites and reflects their changing tastebuds.

"We’ve made a few changes to reflect this and think our 2023 line-up is egg-cellent, even if we do say so ourselves!"

It comes after Cadbury's has shrunk the size of its easter eggs this year – without slashing prices.

It's one of the latest examples of shrinkflation – where products get smaller but the price stays the same.

Its medium Wispa easter egg is now 182.5g, down from 224g, and still costs £3.

Meanwhile, the larger Cadbury Flake egg, priced at £5, is now 231.8g after dropping from 249g.

Small eggs have also been affected – such as the Dairy Milk Freddo Faces easter egg, which has shrunk from 122g to 96g but costs £1.25 instead of £1.
