Expert explains how too much porn changes your brain and ‘red flags’ to watch

A life coach has urged people to stop watching too much porn and has explained how it can be damaging to your health.

Expert Paul Sheppard, who has more than 20 years of experience with unique brain rewiring tools, said porn addiction can ruin a person's brain and love life.

The basic theory goes that the more porn you watch, the more you want to watch it, and the more you need to watch to satisfy yourself.

He explained in a TikTok video: "Too much porn means your brain will begin to rewire yourself and you'd prefer porn than having sex with a real person.

"Too much porn use has been linked to performance anxiety, erectile dysfunction, sexual inadequacy and also body image negativity.

"Porn is a super stimulant, meaning it boosts your dopamine level unnaturally high, this makes it extremely addictive to some people."

Watching pornographic videos for a long time will also make things around you "much less pleasurable" as Paul said: "The only way you can get that really good feeling is to go back to porn."

Essentially, the brain has been "hijacked" and "rewired" by porn, which can lead to symptoms including brain fog, feeling confused and tired, demotivated and intolerant.

"It really dumbs down your pre-frontal cortex," he added.

Some viewers agreed with Paul and one even said porn addiction ended his relationship.

"This makes me pretty sad. I think this played a part in why my relationship just ended," he wrote.

Another said: "It also teaches men who are the primary users to view women as objects to be humiliated.

"Sex without any emotional connection."

Although Paul can't give an answer to "how much is too much", he advised the best way to find out to "be aware of the signs and dangers".

"You have do something about it if you suspect it's affecting you," he added.
