Fashion with NO function! HILARIOUS video of ‘panicked’ man desperately trying to remove THOSE ridiculous $350 red cartoon boots leaves social media in hysterics

  • A TikTok clip, posted from New York, of his struggle left people in hysterics

An early adopter of MSCHF’s now-viral Big Red Boots has left people in hysterics after discovering that they are almost impossible to take off.

The $350 shoes, inspired by cartoon character Astro Boy, sent fashion fanatics into a frenzy earlier this week with the bizarre design dividing social media.

But a hilarious clip has since surfaced showing just how problematic the goofy creation really is.

In the TikTok clip, filmed at a store in New York, one man was forced to enlist the help of his friends to free him from the farcical footwear.

And social media users were quick to see the funny side with commenters joking: ‘Legend has it he’s still wearing the boots.’

The video, which has so far been viewed more than three million times, was posted from the Bowery Showroom – a New York City-based boutique specializing in independent designers and local artists.

It shows one man lying on his back on the floor and clutching at his leg as one of his friends heaves at the Big Red Boot stuck on his foot.

The would-be customer slides along the ground as his willing assistant continues to pull at the obscenely large shoe with force.

Another of his companions then begins to pull on the other boot simultaneously as a slight panic starts to flicker across the man’s face.

The clip was uploaded alongside a caption that read ‘try at your own risk’ – and the whole debacle left social media users in hysterics.

One wrote: ‘Legend has it he’s still wearing the boots.’

Another said: ‘I can literally see where the panic starts to set in.’

And a third simply added: ‘I’ve been crying at this since it was posted.’

The Big Red Boot, being officially released on February 16, is the latest footwear design by Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF, which gained a reputation for creating designs that mock everyday concepts.

The brand’s wacky creations in the past have included a cologne that smells like WD-40, ‘Eat The Rich Popsicles’ in the shape of iconic plutocrats, and ‘Jesus Shoes’ with holy water sourced from the River Jordan inside the sole.

Its latest meme-worthy creation is made from TPUrubber shell and EVA foam.

MSCHF itself has branded the shoes as ‘cartoon boots for a cool 3D world’ and the press release notes: ‘If you kick someone in these boots they go BOING!’

It continued: ‘You never design shoes to be shaped like feet. Big Red Boots are REALLY not shaped like feet, but they are EXTREMELY shaped like boots.’

Earlier this week the design sent the internet wild – but opinions have been divided.

In one camp, there were dozens of fashion conscious individuals who couldn’t wait to get their hands on a pair.

One Twitter user wrote: ‘The big red boots are cutesy, if you couldn’t rock them it’s because you have ugly taste, no style and no pizzazz.’

Another wrote: ‘Guys I’m not even joking at this point. I’m getting those big red boot. Like all seriousness I’m getting them.’

And a third simply stressed: ‘I need those big red astro boy boots.’

The Big Red Boot has caused quite a stir online with social media being sent into a frenzy – and there were dozens who couldn’t wait to get their hands on a pair

But that is not the whole story.

On the other end of the spectrum was a broad range of users who simply mocked the bizarre design and compared it to characters such as Pac-Man and Clifford the Big Red Dog.

One Twitter user shared a picture of Dora the Explorer’s sidekick, called Boots, and wrote: ‘All of u people wearing those big red boots look exactly like this, idc if u think ur rocking them or not [sic].’

Another wrote: ‘No I’m sorry y’all have to let the big red boots go babes. Astro Boy rolling in his cryogenic chamber right now.’

And a third simply said: ‘I’m sick of seeing those big red boots.’
