An aspiring bodybuilder who has been told she shouldn’t dress in gym clothes because she’s a mother has hit back at the negative comments.

Ashley Prichard, who owns the fitness coaching firm Strong Girl Stuff, shared on Instagram that she had received backlash for the way she dresses around her kids.

Her sporty outfits often consist of cycling shorts, crop tops and sports bras – and Ms Prichard said she’s been told: ‘You’re a mum, you shouldn’t dress like that.’

The mother, who is training to become a professional bodybuilder, also said she’s been criticised for being too confident – with some saying it intimidates them.

She also noted hearing people claim she ‘spends too much time on herself’.

Another comment claimed that ‘muscles on women are unattractive’.

However, these negative messages don’t appear to have bothered Ms Pritchard.

Taking to Instagram, she posted a reel displaying the comments as she worked out.

She said: ‘People have too many opinions that don’t matter.
