An art deco mansion, which has played host to actors, pop stars and influencers, has gone on the market for £5.45 million.
Owner Osman Kent, who owns St Ann’s Court, the Roundhouse, a Grade II listed 1930s architectural masterpiece, in Chertsey, Surrey, and its neighbouring 18th Coach House, which houses a recording studio, has dropped the price by a third from a staggering £9 million.
It was at the Roundhouse that actress Renée Zellweger filmed the party scene for the 2019 film Judy, Alexa Chung shot her look book for M&S, David Suchet filmed Agatha Christie’s Poirot and Girls Aloud made their infamous Nintendo advertisements.
And the Coach House, which is set in eight-acre award-winning grounds, with an orchard, small lake, and water lily pond, has played host to musicians such as Roxy Music, Pink Floyd, and Paul Weller.
Tech entrepreneur Osman Kent, who founded the independent record label Songphonics, bought the estate in 1997 from guitarist Paul Manzanera, who created the recording studio, where Roxy Music recorded Flesh + Blood and Avalon.

The Roundhouse, which was inspired by the renowned modern architect Le Corbusier, was designed in 1936 by Sr Raymond McGrath. Celebrated garden designer Christopher Tunnard created the grounds, which were once painted by Turner.
‘He designed it for Gerald Slazenger who was a German financier and Sir Christopher Tunnard who was a landscape designer,’ explained Mr Kent, a tech entrepreneur, who made his fortune in Silicon Valley, and is now a musician, composer, and musician.
‘This bedroom was designed to hide the fact that Slazenger and Tunnard were lovers. It was the 1930’s and it was criminal to sleep together for gay people so at a moment’s notice this became two bedrooms.
‘The double bed split into two single beds and—and went either side and you can see it was a curtain all around and they pretended that they had a dining table in the middle.

A Japanese-inspired wooden walkway, through prairie beds and wildflower meadows, was later commissioned by Mr Kent from Chelsea winner Juliet Sargeant and the gardens have been filmed for the BBC series Gardens Through Time.
‘The amazing thing about this house is that it is designed so that you feel at one with nature,’ added Mr Kent. ‘We have a beautiful contrast because we have a 1930’s modernist building and then 18th Century coach house which is the red building.’
