Financial crook Jordan Belfort spent 22 months in prison after it was brought to light that he had scammed more than 1,500 people out of thousands of dollars through an elaborate stockbroker scheme in 1999 – and his story captured the nation when it was re-told in the Martin Scorsese movie Wolf of Wall Street years later.

While committing the fraudulent crimes, Jordan, now 60, was married to a beautiful model named Nadine Macaluso, who was just 22 years old when she met the entrepreneur at a house party in the Hamptons and quickly became ‘mesmerized’ by his immense wealth.

The pair soon entered into a whirlwind romance, and were together for 14 years – welcoming two children – before they split in 2005.

Their tumultuous marriage was showcased in the 2013 film – which starred Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan and Margot Robbie as Nadine (who was called Naomi in the flick), as well as Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner, Jon Bernthal, and Matthew McConaughey.

The flick saw Margot and Leonardo’s characters engage in numerous screaming matches over cheating and drug use – but was what happened in the movie accurate?

In a series of shocking new TikTok videos, the Wolf of Wall Street’s ex-wife shared intimate details on their wild love story – and confirmed which scenes of the flick were accurate and which were exaggerated for the sake of views.

As Nadine, 54, who is now a marriage counselor and family therapist, speaks out, FEMAIL has lifted a lid on the her and Jordan’s doomed marriage – including how they met, why she stayed with the criminal, and what the final straw was for her.

She admitted on the app that it was ‘not fun’ to have a movie ‘made about her life,’ but that she is now ‘ready to share her side of the story’ – telling her followers to ‘hold on tight’ because she has ‘a lot of great things to expose.’

‘I’m ready to share my side of the story and the wisdom I’ve learned along the way,’ she explained. ‘I am very ready now to tell my truth on exactly what happened through my experience, my narrative, and my lens as a mother, wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, and most importantly a therapist and educated woman.’

While Nadine insisted that ‘a lot’ of what happened in the movie ‘wasn’t true,’ her relationship with Jordan had its ups and downs in real life; after they went their separate ways, Nadine accused Jordan of physical and mental abuse, which she claimed was fueled by incessant drug use and continued infidelity.

From his ‘extreme temper’ and lack of ‘boundaries’ to an inside look at her life since she left the criminal and where their relationship stands now, here’s everything we know about what really happened between the Wolf of Wall Street and his ex- wife Nadine.

Growing up, the future-socialite was always interested in the world of fashion, so when she graduated from John Dewey High School, she opted not to go to college, but instead, to focus her career on modeling.

She quickly flourished in the industry – appearing in ads for many big brands, including Miller Lite Beer; she soon began dating race car driver Alan Wilzig, who was actually the one to introduce her to Jordan.

It turns out, her first meeting with the stockbroker – who was married to his high school sweetheart, Denise Lombardo at the time – was very much like what was showcased in the movie.

In the flick, Jordan and Nadine met for the first time at a party, after the financial crook and his friends took a sedative called Quaalude.

When Jordan attempted to talk to Nadine, his actions were overshadowed after his pal Donnie Azoff, played by Jonah, unzipped his pants and started to touch himself – and according to Nadine, that really happened.

‘So you guys have been asking, “How did you meet Belford, the Wolf of Wall Street?” Well it’s actually pretty similar to the movie,’ she explained in a TikTok video recently.

‘I was 22 years old and modeling, my boyfriend at the time said, “Do you want to go to the party in West Hampton at a house on the beach?” I was like, “Sure.”

According to the mom-of-two, the X-rated moment in the film, in which Jonah Hill’s (pictured) character, Donnie Azoff, exposed himself to her and began to pleasure himself was totally real. ‘I actually got terrified by that,’ she said on TikTok

‘We pulled up and I remember walking into the house. There were all these people and they were acting really weird. Little did I know, they were all Quaalude-d out, I had no idea. They were all there with their wives but they were making lewd and weird comments.

‘That scene where someone exposes himself to me was true. I actually got terrified by that. I’m 22 and I said to my boyfriend at the time, “We have to leave this party,” and we left right away.’

Nadine did not confirm who the person was who exposed themselves to her; Jonah’s character in the movie was said to be loosely based on real-life stockbroker Danny Porush, who has previously insisted that the fictitious version in the film ‘is not him’ and that he never engaged in many of the antics portrayed on screen.

Nadine’s whirlwind romance with Jordan: How their seven-year marriage was rocked with drugs and infidelity

Jordan split from Denise in 1991, and he soon became engulfed in a whirlwind romance with Nadine. They are seen at their wedding

Jordan split from Denise in 1991, and he soon became engulfed in a whirlwind romance with Nadine. They tied the knot that same year, and went on to welcome two children together – a son named Carter and a daughter named Chandler.

And according to the model, who told DailyMail.com in April 2021 that she grew up ‘poor,’ she was ‘mesmerized’ by his immense wealth.

‘I would be lying if I said I wasn’t mesmerized by money,’ she admitted. ‘Ironically, I thought that the money was safe. Little did I know, it would actually put me in harms way.’

Nadine and Jordan’s relationship was far from picture perfect, however; the movie saw Margot and Leonardo’s characters engage in numerous screaming matches over cheating and drug use – and it seems like this wasn’t far from the truth.

After they split, Nadine accused the businessman of domestic violence, which she said was fueled by his struggles with addiction and his infidelity.

‘Jordan was abusive – emotionally and verbally abusive,’ she told DailyMail.com, adding that his drug use ‘ramped up’ his ‘viciousness and cruelty.’

She claimed that Jordan began taking Quaaludes for a bad back, but soon became addicted, and that he also started using cocaine to counter the effects.

‘I grew up with a single mom and I didn’t grow up with a lot of yelling in my home,’ she told her followers. ‘So when he first started to yell at me, I was really shocked and taken aback. I didn’t know how to deal with it.’

On the video streaming platform, Nadine also reflected on the ‘many signs’ and ‘red flags’ that she ‘ignored’ during her relationship with Jordan.

‘In the beginning of my relationship, whenever I would express a need or a desire or value that I wanted to hold a boundary with, he plowed through it,’ she revealed.

‘When I didn’t want to have kids, he was like, “If you don’t have kids I’m not gonna marry you.” When I wasn’t ready to get married he said to me, “If you’re not gonna marry me I’m not gonna date you.” He would not allow me to hold a boundary.’

And according to Margot, who spoke to Nadine before filming kicked off, the mother-of-two told her that the final straw for her was when he started doing drugs around their ‘newborn baby.’

In an interview with IndieWire while discussing the film, the actress said, ‘When I asked [Nadine] what they would fight about, she was like, “The drugs. The fact that he was a drug addict… I didn’t care about the hookers or coming home late.”

‘She said he would be doing crack in front of their newborn baby. Any mother would divorce their husband for that.’

Jordan’s arrest: How he went from Wolf of Wall Street to criminal, all while he was married to Nadine

Nadine was married to the financial crook when he was arrested for stock-market manipulation through his brokerage company Stratton Oakmont.

Staff members at Stratton Oakmont would call people and try to convince them to purchase penny stocks – but would then defraud investors by misleading them to believe that the price of the stock had increased.

Jordan was making millions off the scheme – and lived a lavish life of yacht parties, private jet rides, luxurious getaways, and sports cars, before he was ultimately arrested.

He pleaded guilty to fraud in 1999 and spent 22 months in prison – and his story was later published in a memoir, entitled the Wolf of Wall Street, and was turned into a flick of the same name years later.

While Nadine has never spoken out directly about Jordan’s illegal actions, she divorced him six years later, in 2005, after 14 years of marriage.

What she’s up to now: How Nadine turned her life around by pursing a new career and falling in love

Nadine (pictured in her 20s) told DailyMail.com that she entered into therapy after divorcing from Jordan – which ultimately ‘saved her life’ and inspired her to want to become a therapist herself

After the split, she left New York City behind and moved to Hermosa Beach, California. In 2008, she decided to go back to school and graduated from Pacifica Graduate Institute two years later. She then earned her PhD in 2015

Now, she works as a marriage counselor and family therapist, and uses her past experiences to help her patients, explaining, ‘Experience is the greatest teacher’

‘I don’t know where I would be without therapy,’ she gushed. ‘I had to do it as a living. I can’t even believe I get paid to do it.’

She reportedly didn’t receive any money from Jordan when they split.

Soon after, she left New York City behind and moved to Hermosa Beach, California.

In 2008, she decided to go back to school and graduated from Pacifica Graduate Institute with a degree in Clinical Psychology two years later. She then earned her PhD in 2015.
