Madonna was “strenuously rehearsing” for her upcoming Celebration Tour at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum for weeks before she was found unresponsive and hospitalized, a source close to the production tells Page Six exclusively.

“She had been putting in 12-hour days,” the insider shares. “She was strenuously rehearsing and putting in the work.”

The Uniondale, N.Y. venue — which once served as the New York Islanders’ home arena and now goes mostly unused — had a private event scheduled over the weekend, so it came as no surprise to employees when they didn’t see her at rehearsals, we hear.

In fact, it appears the Coliseum found out about what happened to the 64-year-old “Material Girl” singer after Page Six broke the news of her medical emergency Wednesday.

A source told us the Queen of Pop was found unresponsive Saturday and was rushed to an NYC hospital where she was intubated and placed in the Intensive Care Unit.

We hear she has since been extubated and moved off of the critical care floor into a normal hospital room, where daughter Lourdes Leon has remained by her side.

Madonna’s longtime manager, Guy Oseary, explained on Instagram that the musician “developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several day stay in the ICU.”

He clarified that while Madonna is “still under medical care,” she’s expected to make a “full recovery.”

In light of her health scare, the entire tour — which was set to begin in Vancouver on July 15 — has been postponed, a decision the musician did not want to make.

A second insider tells us, “Madonna doesn’t want to cancel her tour. She was having a blast in rehearsals and wants to get back to it when she’s ready.”

The source adds that she’s “game” to “eventually” hit the road, but her “team doesn’t want to push her.”

Oseary assured fans a “new start date” as well as details on “rescheduled shows” would be made available as soon as possible.

Madonna has been posting pictures and videos from tour rehearsals on social media for months, and appeared healthy and happy in a slideshow posted just four days before her hospitalization.

“The Calm Before The Storm……….” she captioned the Instagram post uploaded on June 20.

Last month, the “Hung Up” songstress was spotted having a Mother’s Day dinner in NYC with all six of her kids: Lourdes, 26, Rocco, 22, David, 17, Mercy, 17, and 10-year-old twins Estere and Stella.
