A bloke who started going bald at 23 said losing his locks so young crippled his confidence and made him balloon in weight.

But Lee Meadows now feels like a new man after a “life changing” hair transformation brought back his smile and inspired him to slim down.

In recent days he bravely shared his makeover on TikTok and has been blown away by the response, with millions of people already seeing it.

The 32-year-old, who lives in Nuneaton, then spoke exclusively to Daily Star about the difference a full head of hair has made.

He said: “Just the initial smile I had within two seconds of seeing myself with hair again, it was a massive change.

“It is literally the best feeling. I can’t even explain the instant confidence changes. I have lost five stone and I have got myself a partner, it is the first relationship I have had in 12 years.

“Everything is falling into place because I have a bit more confidence. Even at work I have had promotions in the past three years, everything has changed just because I feel better in myself.

“It is a simple thing that makes a massive change to your life.”

He described hitting “rock bottom” in his early 20s when his hairline receded and hair started falling from the crown of his head.

Lee, who manages a control centre at a water company, started having unhealthy relationships with food and alcohol and he went up to 17st 8lbs.

His love life also took a battering and he was too self-conscious to stay over at people’s homes because he used hair fibre powder.

“It really gets to you,” he said. “Having no hair or losing your hair when you want hair is a really big thing.

“Friends would say ‘where has your hairline gone’ and they would say to shave it off but I was just not ready to shave my hair off.

“It is hard listening to other people say that, especially when you are looking at them and they have a full head of hair.”

Desperate, Lee tried many solutions to his barnet including tablets, creams, sprays and oils.

But in 2019 he went to a hair company and paid £900 for a hair system, a cap covered in real hairs that is glued to your head.

He now has the courage to go to the gym whereas before he was too anxious of the spray on the top of his head sweating off.

Lee now refits the system himself and spends on average £50 a month maintaining a full head of hair.

And as for the reaction online, he said: “I woke up this morning and realised 18 and a half million people have seen me with a bald head.

“I have the hair system to prevent people seeing me with a bald head but I have had so many messages from men asking me questions.

“I know that it helps people and I know people see others do it and think they can too.

“Even if I help one person then it would be sound.”

And for how his work pals have reacted, he added: “I have had no problems at all. I work with mainly straight men in their 40s and 50s that will literally wind you up for anything and they are brilliant with it.

“We all had a laugh when it first got done but they genuinely have seen the difference it has made.”
