Most popular baby names of 2023 revealed and they aren’t what you’d expect
Each year different baby names become popular, and over recent years more traditional names appear to be going out of fashion.
It was recently revealed that there are 40 baby names at risk of going extinct this year, as new parents continue to opt for more unique monikers for their little ones.
Following Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague's recent announcement of her newborn daughter's unusual name, Bambi, OnlineCasinos.co.uk have compiled a list of the 20 most popular baby names of 2023 so far, with Felix and Lucky both making the cut.
The most popular moniker was revealed to be Rafael, with 3,160,411 babies across the globe being given the name, while Victoria came in second place with 2,626,923.
The study revealed that Rafael is the most desired baby name associated with luck. Rafael has biblical connotations, being the name of the angel of healing.
Meanwhile Victoria, meaning ‘victory’ in English, descends from a Goddess of Roman mythology. Various famous figures have embodied this name’s meaning such as Queen Victoria and her historic rule, as well as Victoria Beckham with her successful career.
Lakshmi came in third place, with 2,570,558 people named after the Hindu goddess.
Other names included in the top 20 include Felicia, Amber, Beatrice and Penny, as well as Lakshmi, Iris and Said.
