Stacey Solomon praised by fans over clever trick for ‘cheaters’ French plait

Stacey Solomon has delighted fans with a clever hack to create a "cheaters" French plait in just a few minutes. The Loose Women star, 33, took to Instagram on Thursday to share with her 5.7M followers the easy-to-follow tutorial of what she called the "plait hack".

Posting the video as she created the plait herself, Stacey wrote the caption: "Ok so I did my cheaters plait this morning and LOADS of you keep asking me to show you how I do it again as it disappeared from my story so I thought I’d just chuck it on here.

"I really hope this makes sense and helps. Tag a friend who needs his. I used to actually get upset about how rubbish I am at braids, especially when thinking of doing my girl's hair when they’re older."

The mum-of-five went on to thank @peneloperyanbeauty for showing her the nifty trick and said: "I’ll be forever in her debt. it’s so much easier, quicker and stays in SO well." In the video, Stacey could be seen teasing her blonde locks into sections before tying them with several clear elastic hair bands.

When she got to the bottom of her hair which had all been tied up, she began loosening the locks in order to hide the elastic hair bands. Once this was complete the final look gave the impression that it was a complicated French braid style – a known style that can be tricky to master.

Fans were quick to praise the star on the hair hack tutorial, as one wrote: "Love this, my little girl starts school in September and I have no clue how to do hair, definitely giving this a go."

A second commented: "Oh I love this! I have never been able to do these on myself."

"Okay this has changed my life", declared influencer and mum, Connie Simmonds.

Another thanked the star and said: "Can’t wait to try this!!."

"Wow!!! This is amazing" gushed another.

One of Stacey's fans joked: "This looks so easy but I'll definitely mess it up somehow."

Hoping to share the hair hack far and wide, the star also posted it to her Instagram story and wrote: "I hope this helps and explains it properly", before adding "happy fake plaiting".

The post comes just a few days after Stacey shared with her followers a sneak peek of her bedside table which featured some of her must-have beauty products. On her Instagram story, she shared a snap of her perfectly organised night table and confessed: "I find if I put my night creams and hair serum next to my bed it forces me to remember to do it before I go to sleep!"

Alongside her candles and vase of pampas grass, there were some of her essential beauty items neatly arranged as a reminder to use them every day. One skincare product was the L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renew Midnight Regenerative Cream, £14.99 here, which has been reduced from £29.99.

There was also the L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renew Midnight Serum, £14.99 here, which has also been reduced from £29.99, meaning you can currently snap up both products for the price of one. The star also her a tub of REHAB. Dose 1.0 Hair Oil Capsules, £26 here, that Stacey claims are the "best things I’ve ever used on my hair" and her trusty REHAB. Vital Hair Brush, £14 here.
