Charles “Reggie” Gwinn, 40, suspect in Denver child sex assault case

A former teacher is under investigation for alleged sexual assaults of a student and Denver police are looking for additional victims based on the circumstances of the case.

Charles Reginald “Reggie” Gwinn, 40, was arrested Friday on investigation of two counts of sexual assault of a child by a person in a position of trust, according to a Denver Police Department news release.

Both counts are related to alleged sexual assaults involving the same victim occurring between March and July of 2018, police said. An investigation began in March when the juvenile victim and her father filed a report with the police. Gwinn allegedly fondled the victim several times over the five-month timespan and he allegedly forced the victim to commit a sexual act. The alleged crimes happened while Gwinn was a theater teacher at St. Elizabeth’s School in Denver.

Based on the circumstances in the case, investigators are trying to determine whether there are additional victims. Anyone with information on alleged additional victims or incidents in connection to the suspect is asked to call the department’s exploited persons unit at 720-913-6653.
