Rihanna’s 2015 Met Gala gown drew comparisons to a pizza

Rihanna donned one of the most memorable statement pieces in Met Gala history when she arrived in 2015.

The now 35-year-old singer styled her long train coat with a crystal-embellished Guo Pei headpiece, Cartier jewelry and Christian Louboutin heels.

But many fans were underwhelmed by the bright yellow garb, and created memes that quickly went viral on Twitter and Instagram.

Dozens identified a whole host of food-based similarities as others mocked it for looking like the yellow brick road from The Wizard Of Oz.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s headpiece set the internet alight

It seems that there were multiple missteps at the event in 2015 with Sarah Jessica Parker also making a fashion faux pas.

The Sex And The City star’s one-of-a-kind Philip Treacy headpiece caused quite the stir on the red carpet.

It was mercilessly likened to the fire emoji as well as all things devilishly red.

Other social media users likened the statement accessory to something out of a cartoon and one even said it resembled a flame-haired Troll doll.

Pharrell’s wife Helen Lasichanh turned heads for all the wrong reasons at the event in 2017.

Wearing a Comme des Garcon full-body suit with a pillowy design, which saw her arms pinned to her sides without outlets, she certainly proved she was bold in the fashion department.

The red costume with the puffy design inspired the internet’s pranksters to come out in full force.

And most popular among Twitter fashion critics was a comparison with various children’s television shows including the Teletubbies.

Kylie and Kendall Jenner mocked over their Versace showgirl gowns

In 2019, Kylie and Kendall Jenner topped the hit list of most memed Met Gala outfits when they stepped out in showgirl gowns from Versace.

Viewers rushed to social media to make comparisons to Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels’ characters in the 1995’s Dumb and Dumber.

But others also suggested that the orange and blue gowns were reminiscent of ugly stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella from Cinderella.

Kendall appeared to take it all in stride when she took to her Instagram story to share a photo of the stepsisters from the original Disney animated movie in a nod to the joke.

Kylie Jenner lampooned for her wedding dress and baseball cap ensemble

Last year, Kylie Jenner was lampooned on social media once again after rocking up to the prestigious event wearing a wedding dress and a baseball cap.

The mother-of-one’s odd Off-White gown had a full, floor-length skirt and a T-shirt inspired mesh top – with a ruched white spaghetti strap bodice layered under the mesh.

The makeup mogul unfortunately became the punch line on Twitter as hundreds mocked her bizarre ensemble.

Ruthless viewers compared the look to that of cartoon characters such as Homer Simpson and Meg Griffin from Family Guy.
