The owners of Harry Potter's home are tiring of being an Instagram moment

Harry Potter fans, do take note.

The owner of the house used for filming scenes at 4 Privet Drive says they are tired of Instagrammers knocking on their door.

The actual cul-de-sac in Bracknell, Berkshire, was chosen in 2001 to be the Dursleys’ home in the film adaptation of the beloved books.

Understandably, fans of the franchise want to get snaps of the famous fictional Little Whinging house and the street where Harry Potter lived.

But according to The Sun, the current owner, who is remaining anonymous, has said the ‘constant’ stream of tourists visiting their home is ‘bizarre.’

‘We’ve had people in floods of tears,’ they told the outlet. ‘It’s bizarre.

‘The kids, you get it. But obviously the adults. They dress up sometimes in full gear and recreate scenes.

‘There was one time somebody tried to climb the fence. That was when we were like, “oh my god, don’t do that!”

‘We are accommodating though. I’ve moved my cars for people that want a good photo.

‘I don’t mind. Harry Potter is amazing. I get that. But you do come home from work, and they are all on your drive. It’s quite mad.

‘We knew what house we were buying except they didn’t really tell us. They didn’t tell us they are here all day, every day. It’s constant.’

The owner says the school holidays are ‘the worst’.

They also noted that while most people knock on the door to ask if they can take a photo, some people don’t.

‘People have travelled miles. From all over the world. People are sometimes really awkward. We are used to it, but not used to it in a way,’ they added.

The home went on the market for a short time in 2016 for £475,000, but was removed by the owner.

Meanwhile, a neighbouring house was purchased for £650,000, which was almost £200,000 over the asking price.

Due to logistical issues, the Berkshire house was only physically featured in one of the films. For the remaining films, the street was recreated to an exact likeness in a studio for the remaining productions.

And now, Harry Potter fans can visit the set on the Warner Bros studio tour in Leavesden, Hertfordshire.

So, if you are a die-hard fan and want to get a picture with Harry Potter’s original home, maybe head there instead.
