Tyler, the Creator Lists Bel Air Contemporary Estate For $7 Million

American rapper and record producer. He is one of the founding members of the music collective Odd Future Tyler, the Creator has surprisingly boomeranged his impressive Bel Air home back onto the market. And the Los Angeles native apparently really, really wants to get rid of the place — he’s priced it at $7 million, way less than the $7.9 million he paid last December. Even in the happy event of a full-price offer, Tyler faces a nearly $1 million loss on the property, all before the inevitable taxes, closing fees and hefty maintenance costs are factored into the equation.

The good news: Tyler can likely afford the loss. Though he’s barely out of his 20s, he’s become estatablished as one of hip-hop’s most successful artists of his generation, glowing up from origins with the indie rap music collective Odd Future into a millennial Renaissance man whose widely acclaimed music fuses elements of mainstream rap, classical jazz, underground hip-hop and theatrical eccentricities.

In the last four years alone, two Tyler albums have hit #1 on Billboard, and he’s won the prestigious “Best Rap Album” Grammy award twice. He also inked lucrative production deal with Sony Pictures TV, and launched a high-end fashion line called Golf le Fleur, a whimsically vintage and colorful brand that sells clothing, nail polish and accessories at very premium prices.

It doesn’t appear Tyler has made many changes to his Bel Air home, which is tucked away at the end of a discreet cul-de-sac in the Bel Air hills. The single-story structure still offers four bedrooms, all of them with ensuite bathrooms. There are still travertine floors and walls of glass throughout, framing impressive views of mountains and city lights, per Dirt.

Interior highlights include a vast great room with a fireplace and dramatic views, a home theater that does double-duty as a library, a mirror-walled gym and a chef’s kitchen with a travertine -topped island and top-of-the-line Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances.

Originally built in 1965, the house was heavily modified in the ’90s with the addition of a new wing that encompasses the home’s gigantic master suite. In addition to the typical bedroom and marble-slathered bathroom, that lair includes two walk-in closets with endless storage possibilities and a fully integrated home office with two built-in work stations, ideal for homeowners who have adopted the WFH lifestyle.

Outside, the one-acre lot flaunts grassy lawns, a fire-pit seating area, a built-in BBQ center with bar seating, an outdoor fireplace and infinity-edged pool and spa. And this being Bel Air, all the neighbors are exceptionally wealthy — the boomerang-shaped mansion immediately next door to Tyler’s house was recently sold for $32 million to tech entrepreneur Eric Wu.

Interested in the property? Have the means to afford it? Brave the rain and go check it out — listing agents Ari Afshar and Evan Dolmatsky of Compass are hosting an open house today, from 1-4pm.
