What is open and closed today after the Queen's death? From shops and schools to gyms and hairdressers | The Sun

THE country is in mourning after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Her majesty was Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, with preparations under way for a state funeral.

But there is the question of what lies in store for a grieving United Kingdom today.

What is closed today?

Businesses and schools – including shops, gyms and hairdressers – are allowed to remain open today, despite the passing of our beloved Queen.

Some businesses may have decided to close as a mark of respect.

It would be the discretion of schools or businesses whether to close during the mourning period.

Will there be a bank holiday?

The day of the state funeral – which has yet to be announced – will be declared a “Day of National Mourning”.

However, it has not officially been declared a bank holiday.
