Zara Tindall made a rare comment about her children while away from them at West Yorkshire’s Bramham Horse Trials.

The equestrian and horse lover, 42, has been competing in the dressage competition this week.

However the mother’s children Mia, nine, Lena, four, and Lucas, two, and husband Mike have not been present at the trials.

Speaking trackside to Hello! after an event, Zara said: ‘He’s [Mike] off somewhere this weekend. He’s busy doing something for rugby, so busy, in different directions.

‘Sometimes the family comes up, but it depends on how busy everyone is. With three little people, it’s juggling everything.’

The family previously showed support to Zara at Burnham Market International Horse Trials in Norfolk in 2022 and The Whatley Manor Horse Trials in Gloucestershire in 2019.

On Friday the royal was riding her gelding Class Affair and appeared very happy with the way her dressage test went.

The Olympic silver-medallist looked poised and focused as she rode in white jodhpurs, a double-breasted fitted navy blazer with tails and a high-collared shirt.

The royal will also be doing her Show Jumping and Cross Country disciplines tomorrow on Class Affair.

Zara had some practice the day before as she also competed with another horse Classicals Euro Star in the first of two rides.

Following the race on Thursday, Princess Anne’s daughter hopped on her bicycle – for which her riding helmet also proved handy.

The royal is a serious international equestrian competitor, having garnered a gold medal at the European Eventing Championships in 2005 in addition to attaining a silver medal at the World Equestrian Games in 2006.

Zara also previously won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics as part of the Great Britain Eventing Team.

In 2006, she was crowned the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.

A keen horse enthusiast, Zara fills much of her leisure time with horses as well, and was pictured at the Epsom Derby just last week with her husband Mike Tindall.

As Animal Rising protesters made a bid to disrupt the race, Zara made a rare intervention as she urged them to stop their activities.

She said: ‘They [the protesters] speak about what they believe in… but do [they] completely understand what [they’re] talking about?’

Meanwhile Mike, 44, implored the activists to ‘go and spend a bit of time at professional yards’ to see how the horses are looked after.

As the couple basked in the sunshine at the races, Zara looked chic as ever in a white midi dress with black stripes, topped with a co-ordinated hat boasting a black and white cockade.

Meanwhile Mike opted for a traditional morning suit, wearing grey trousers under his black tailcoat – and a black and white stripy tie to match his wife’s frock.

The couple appeared to enjoy their day at the Surrey racecourse, and were snapped smiling as they posed together.

And Zara was seen enjoying a glass of wine at one point, as well as watching the action intently.
