Rescued dog with legs that grow backward defies odds by proving lust for life

An eight-month-old dog born with his legs facing backward has defied the odds by proving that he still has a lust for life, despite barely being able to move.

The rare puppy has seen his popularity grow leaps and bounds since the footage was posted of him enjoying life at the Saved Soul Foundation in Thailand.

The TikTok clips highlight the daily struggles Bin faces as he tries to move around with nothing but his two back feet, often dragging his upper body across the ground.

Despite the severity of his defects, the resilient pup has proven time and time again that he is prepared to live his life to the fullest with his friends at the shelter.

Bin currently lives among hundreds of pets at a non-profit rescue center in Kohn Kaen, Thailand, which was founded in 2010 to help cats and dogs.

The Saved Souls Foundation currently houses 400 dogs and 90 cats and opens its door to all struggling pets who need a roof over their heads.

Maxim Thibodeau, who volunteers at the shelter with his wife, has known Bin since the rare pup showed up a month after he was born.

“Bin means ‘to fly’ in Thai, so it is a Thai nickname,” Thibodeau told Newsweek. “He was brought to us one month after he was born. He was one of four puppies born at a rice farm, but was the only one with a birth defect.”

Thibodeau continued: “Since December 18, 2022, he has been with us at the foundation. He is in a sand enclosure with other disabled dogs, but he does enjoy going to our dog park in the afternoon.

“A vet from the Netherlands came to see Bin a few months ago, and recommended against amputation because Bin is not in pain and surgery would greatly decrease his mobility.”

Most of the animals at the shelter were saved from the meat trade or were found blind, neglected, or abused by their owners.

Many of their stories have been showcased on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, attracting love and support from viewers around the world.

“I hope that this is the beginning of something great I’ve noticed more growth, especially on Facebook and Instagram since going viral on Reddit,” noted Thibodeau.

The volunteer hopes the footage will raise donations to support the shelter in its efforts to keep the animals happy.

“But the struggle is still there,” he added. “Part of two roofs collapsed yesterday due to heavy wind and rain and the dogs are due for their annual vaccinations and need huge amounts of food every month.”
