A Place in the Sun fans sold on Spanish townhouse as its close to Aldi

A Place in the Sun fans claimed they were 'sold' on a terraced townhouse in Málaga, Spain because it is in close proximity to an Aldi supermarket.

During Wednesday evening's episode (August 10), presenter Scarlett Douglas was showing Hazel and her good friend Paula around a number of properties along Málaga's east coast, in a bid to find her dream holiday home on a budget of £250,000.

With a "wiggle-room" up to £300,000, the buyer from Whitley Bay was shown a terraced townhouse which was on sale for around £264,957, featuring four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms.

The property also has access to communal tennis courts and pools with a charge of £35 communal fees.

However, Channel 4 fans were left in hysterics as one of the cutaways showed that the property was close to an Aldi as they claim they would have put in an offer just of that.

One user said: "Ooooh there’s an Aldi. I’m sold."

Another tweeted: "Mmm. Nice just up the road from Aldi."

A third commented: "Good old Aldi."

However, not everyone was impressed by the supermarket location as one user added: "Aldi is all over the shop in Spain."

In the end, Hazel went for a five-bedroom property in Caleta de Velez because she found the "views and the spaciousness" the most appealing from the selection of townhouses she visited on the show.

The property, which was on the market for just under £286,500, even featured a downstairs apartment and hot tub which Paula cheekily said would be hers.

"It goes without saying that would be my apartment," she quipped.

Hazel put an offer in under the asking price at £260,000 but the owner refused to go lower than £276,271.

Hazel made them a counter offer of £270,000, which was again refused as the owner said they would only go as low as £271,000.

But finally, they closed in on the sale as Hazel ended the haggling, saying: "It's a deal."
