A Place in The Sun's Danni Menzies swipes at BBC's Top Gear – raging 'I NEVER saw girls with cars' | The Sun
A PLACE in The Sun's Danni Menzies has taken a swipe at BBC's Top Gear – raging 'I NEVER saw girls with cars'.
The 33-year-old is best known for her work on the Channel 4 show, but recently filmed for Formula Woman Racing and Formula E.
Speaking about her involvement with motor sport, Danni said she wished there had been more female representation growing up.
She said: "When I was growing up I loved cars and I would have loved to have tried to do some sort of driving stuff.
"It just wasn't even something you would even think about or talk about or do – because girls just didn't do it. And that sucks.
"I never saw any girls when I was moving into presenting fronting anything car related."

She then took a swipe at BBC motoring show Top Gear as she added: "If I'd seen a woman on Top Gear 10 years ago, I probably would have made different choices.
"It's changing a bit right now and it will take a while for that to follow through into the fans.
"I think Formula E, Formula 1, they're all trying to get more women involved which is really cool and I want to be a part of that.
"I want that to change so that if, or when, I have children, and I have a girl and they want to do something like that, that's cool and normal and that can happen. It needs to be normal."

Danni's comments come after she revealed earlier this year that she would be leaving A Place in the Sun.
Danni has been part of the show for six years but admitted she would like to work on "anything car related that's got a bit more action to it."
And she may well have her sights set on Top Gear – currently hosted by Paddy McGuinness, Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris – saying: "I've got a taste of it the last few days so I'd love to work in that area more for sure.
"I've watched Top Gear since I can remember with my Dad on the sofa and I think there's scope for something a bit fresher in the future. That would be quite exciting.
"A younger, cooler version of Top Gear, maybe with electric cars, would be wicked."
