A Place in the Sun's Laura Hamilton shocked as buyers refuse to enter £193k home | The Sun

A PLACE in the Sun's Laura Hamilton was horrified when a couple refused to enter a four-bedroom house.

The popular Channel 4 programme, which sees budding expats search for their perfect home abroad, shocked viewers after last night’s episode.

In Thursday's episode of the Channel 4 hit, property hunters Janine and Mark set out on a mission to find their perfect holiday home around the Western region of Dordogne in France.

After seeing a few properties Janine and Mark’s search was proving to be a bit of a disaster, resulting in them having to end the search abruptly.

The couple even refused to enter a four-bedroom house that host Laura Hamilton had tracked down for them.

Janine and Mark were searching for a three-bedroom house asserting it would be the ideal property for both them and Mark’s mum to move into.

The couple started off with a budget of £23k.

After showing them the first property, it was clear that Laura had her work cut out for her when the couple didn't mince their words.

Mark wasn’t impressed, explaining: "It doesn’t seem to have the character we wanted."

He added: “It’s too dark”.

Laura was hoping for a more positive reaction from the couple considering the property was spacious, with four-bedrooms, almost an acre of land, and even a private swimming pool.

Janine agreed, adding: “I don’t like it. It’s just a box.”

Having said their piece, the pair abruptly turned around and walked off.

After seeing a number of homes, Janine and Mark seemed to eventually like one property that Laura suggested.

The property expert showed off a three-bedroom house in Saint-Géraud-de-Corps which had its own swimming pool, patio, and lounging area, as well as a garden and garage.

But things didn’t stay smooth sailing for too long when Laura showed them property number five.

Janine and Mark didn’t even want to look inside the property, immediately calling off the search.

Mark was put off by it being near a main road, while Janine said: "I don't want to like it, I like [property number four]".

Trying to sway them, Laura told the couple the price of the property. She said: "It has just over an acre of land, and it's on the market for just over £193,000. Does that change things for you?”

Janine bluntly replied: "No."

Despite a tricky search, the couple finally put in an offer on the four-bedroom home in Saint-Géraud-de-Corps.

However, the house wasn’t within their budget so they put in an offer which was £20,000 below the asking price and it was refused.

But after upping their bid, they were successful in buying their dream home.
