Godzilla, the monster movie starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, hits TV screens later tonight at 7:15pm on Channel 5. The British star plays a soldier trying to get back to his wife, played by Elizabeth Olsen. This is not the first time these two actors worked opposite one another, as they played twins in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff. After his character was killed off in the movie, Taylor-Johnson was offered another role in a Marvel film, but he refused to take it.

Taylor-Johnson revealed: “David Leitch actually asked me to be in Deadpool 2 ages ago.”

The Ryan Reynolds-fronted Deadpool 2 included a variety of hilarious cameos throughout the picture. Not only did James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult and Evan Peters reprise their X-Men roles, but Brad Pitt made a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo, as well. He played Vanisher, an invisible man who died after jumping out of a plane into electrical wires.

Taylor-Johnson said of the Deadpool 2 offer: “So I met [Leitch], but I didn’t do that [film].”

However, he was interested in joining the roster for Leitch’s movie with Pitt, Bullet Train. But he quickly found out he could not simply walk into the role.

Taylor-Johnson explained that Leitch was extremely harsh in the casting process.

He said: “When [Bullet Train] came around… he was like: ‘Get in line, buddy. There’s like ten other actors who want this job, and they’ve got a bigger name than you do.'” (Via THR)

Ultimately, however, Taylor-Johnson was cast in Bullet Train in the leading role of Tangerine, opposite Pitt and Brian Tyree Henry.

Since filming ended on Bullet Train, Taylor-Johnson has also started filming his next Marvel movie. This time, however, it’s a solo movie in the Sony Marvel universe.

Sony’s version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is made up of the enemies of Spider-Man.

In recent months, viewers received Morbius, starring Jared Leto. Before that, we received two films in the Venom franchise, starring Tom Hardy.

Taylor-Johnson will be playing Kraven the Hunter in the upcoming 2023 movie of the same name. So far, not much information has been revealed about the movie’s plot, but the British star has assured fans it’s going to be a very “personal story”.

Taylor-Johnson recently said Kraven is being filmed mostly in real settings rather than utilising green screens and digital sets.

He said: “Kraven being shot entirely on location is going to make all the difference. It’s going to add something really beautiful to our personal story.”

He added: “It also sets Kraven apart from that Marvel stage look. It’s important for this character to be in the real world. It’s important for the authenticity of the story.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron and Deadpool 2 are available to stream on Disney Plus now.

Kraven the Hunter is due for release on October 6, 2023.
