Alison Hammond hits back at ‘feud’ rumours with This Morning co-star Dermot O’Leary

Alison Hammond has defiantly quashed rumours of a feud with her This Morning co-star Dermot O'Leary .

The presenter, 47, who hosts the ITV daytime show with broadcaster Dermot, 49, on Fridays said she 'can't tell you how much I love that man' in a new podcast.

It had been claimed that the pair have 'bickered' and struggled to 'hit it off' on the show when they first started working together.

Speaking to GKBarry on the Saving Grace podcast, Alison said: "I can't tell you how wrong they actually are. I love the fact that people think that. I'm gonna keep that going.

"Go 'babes, people think we hate each other, let's do a couple of things on the telly like stand further apart'.

"Like we're still distancing! But seriously I love the fact people think we've got beef, it's hilarious."

She added: "Honestly I can't tell you how much I love that man, he's so funny."

Dermot has previously discussed reports that he and Alison had not had an easy start to their co-presenting.

Explaining the awkwardness between them when they first started co-hosting the show, Dermot told Fabulous magazine last September: "We never got to pilot, we'd never read a script through, we didn't even have lunch together.

"We literally met for the first time in 15 years or so and that morning we presented two-and-a-half hours of live television together.

"The idea that there wouldn't be a period of getting to know each other is insane."

In December 2020, it was announced that then Friday presenters of This Morning, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, were being replaced on Fridays by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

This change came into place in 2021 and the pair have co-hosted the show every Friday since then.

Alison reflected on their difficult beginning during a chat on Lorraine in May last year, five months into the arrangement, saying: "We were thrown together on a Friday, a bit like an arranged marriage. It took about two months to feel comfortable.

"We told each other what we didn't like. We had a few private chats and said 'oh I don't like this about you, and the other said well I don't like you when you do this.

"I think the fact we were honest and able to talk to each other… I trust him now."

On Thursday, 27 October, Alison attended The Ethnicity Awards 2022 in London, which looks to recognise celebrities and public figures as advocates who are working to progress equality.

She was named Host Of The Year, an award sponsored by Metro.co.uk, thanks to her incredible presenting at the popular show.

The Ethnicity Awards, Britain’s biggest Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority red carpet extravaganza, had some of the biggest names in showbusiness taking part, including Sir Mo Farah, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Stormzy.
