Bargain Hunt branded ‘worst episode’ as couple suffers ‘soul-destroying’ loss

Bargain Hunt viewers were left cringing at their TV screens after a couple found themselves at the “worst auction ever.”

The hit BBC One show was back for a brand new episode on Wednesday (March 15) – and hoping to bag some cash was couple Farrell and David.

The pair, who refer to themselves as “Bargain Hunt ninjas,” were given £300 at a venue in Wrexham to spend on items to be sold at auction.

In the latest episode, things seemed to be going well for Farrell and David, and they made £3 profit on two silver plated dog ornaments.

But things then took an awkward turn when a ceramic basket they bought for £105, sold for a mere £35.

Then, it was time for a pair of red chairs, which were recommended by expert Jonathan Pratt – also known as JP, to be auctioned off.

The couple, who were on the red team, bought the stools for £40 in which the expert joked that he hoped they would make £41.

Optimistic as ever, he added: “I think they stand a good chance.”

But to add insult to injury, the pair of 1930s-inspired stools sold for a mere £1.

The bidding started off at £20 but the room instantly fell silent and decreased to £10, then £5 before settling for £1.

It didn’t take long for fans to react to awkward results, with one proclaiming: “Cringing, I think £1 was a generous offer.”

Another raged: “That must be the absolute worst auction on Bargain hunt ever.”

Whereas other viewers claimed they knew the low offer was coming, with one penning: “Everyone with eyes saw that coming.”

Some fans dubbed it as "soul destroying” and “unsurprising, so tacky.”

Prior to finding out about their massive loss, the show's host Christina Trevanion quizzed the couple about their thoughts on the chairs.

When asked if they liked them they said:

“Yes, we do,” and even the auctioneer, Thomas Plant branded them as “fabulous.”

Luckily for the red team, they ended up winning the show with a total loss of £80.

Whereas the blue team found themselves with a major loss of £111.
