BBC Breakfast format shake-up as Sally Nugent and Jon Kay both leave set

BBC Breakfast shows a format shake-up as both presenters leave the studio set for Westminster.

Hosts Sally Nugent and Jon Kay have gone out and about today to report on the Queen's funeral.

The pair usually sit on the BBC sofa in the studios, but for this very special occasion, bosses decided to switch things up.

The BBC Breakfast Twitter account shared a snap of the duo and wrote: "On #BBCBreakfast join Jon & Sally outside Westminster Abbey as the nation prepares for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II."

Fans of the show replied underneath the Twitter thread, with one saying: "Good Luck Jon and Sally. You have conducted yourself and presented flawlessly."

Another then added: "Sally’s hair in that photograph is just gorgeous you brush up well too, Jon!"

While a third penned: "Thank you for your coverage over the past few days."

"Emotional day for us all," shared a fourth.

A fifth put: "You've looked elegantly classy throughout the last couple of weeks. Even your make-up is tasteful and appropriate. @sallynugent."

"Morning John, @sallynugent, @charlie, @johnmaguire, I'm watching you live on BBC here in Warminster, Wiltshire. Mourning the Queen Elizabeth today with my partner of 20yrs{Andrew}, one of your interviewees said where we're celebrating her Majesty the Queen. RIP," a sixth posted.

Another praised the presenters and said: "@BBCBreakfast @sallynugent @jonkay01 doing a fantastic job this morning just the right tone & just so well done."

Another remarked: "Must be more challenging reading stuff out loud from outside."

Whereas another viewer claimed: "I won’t be watching @ITV BBC it is all day!"

However, another moaned: "I have stopped watching @BBCBreakfast and other media. This has been such excessive and over bearing coverage which insults those of us who are already grieving for our own family member. It makes me feel sick and I’ll be glad when it’s over."
