In the latest instalment of BBC Breakfast, the two hosts touched on Hamza Yassin’s victory after he was crowned the winner of Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night. The wildlife cameraman and his partner Jowita Przystal raised the infamous Glitterball after impressing the public at home.

After 13 weeks, the popular BBC dance competition drew to a close as the winner of the 20th series was revealed.

The final four celebrities in the show took to the dancefloor one last time to try and do all they could to impress the judges and the public at home.

Despite only having to do one dance throughout the competition, with an extra added for the semi-finals last week, they each had to do three routines for the grand finale.

One of those was a dance chosen by the judges, another was each couple’s favourite routine and the last was a show dance.

In the end, it was wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin who was announced as the winner of Strictly Come Dancing with his professional partner Jowita Przystal.

Although, when speaking about the duo’s victory on Sunday’s instalment of BBC Breakfast, host Rachel Burden claims he wasn’t the best dancer of the evening.

Speaking to her co-star Roger Johnson, she said: “He’s incredible, he wasn’t actually the best dancer on the night but it’s not about that.

“It’s about the story behind it and he had this amazing connection with his partner and the public loved him, it’s a great story,”

Roger replied that he had seen in a paper that Hamza could be the next up-and-coming David Attenborough.

Rachel added: “Well he’s definitely come from behind the camera now to in front of it, hasn’t he?”

Her co-star continued: “That gives him the profile now, he’s a star, he’s a celebrity.”

Moving onto the weather segment of the show, Roger quizzed Matt Taylor on whether or not he’d done the BBC dance competition before.

Confessing, Matt replied: “No, nobody wants to see that honestly. I’m uncoordinated completely.”

Despite always remaining at the top end of the leaderboard throughout the series, Hamza found himself right at the bottom during the last show.

He was given a total combined score of 113 after receiving 39, 34 and 40 for each of his routines.

Although she didn’t take home the Glitterball, singer Fleur East took the top spot on the leaderboard after getting two perfect scores on the night.
