BBC confirms altered TV schedule in wake of Queen Elizabeth II's death

The BBC has confirmed its altered schedule for the day after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The broadcaster has confirmed that BBC One will air blanket coverage of the Queen’s death until 6.30pm on Friday, with a series of BBC News specials.

BBC Two has also faced changes to the schedule, and while the channel is not broadcasting blanket coverage of the Queen, it has also amended planned programming for the day.

The BBC had suspended its regular programming from lunchtime on Thursday after it was announced that there were concerns about the monarch’s health.

Buckingham Palace released a statement explaining: ‘Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.

‘The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.’
