Ben loses it and takes drastic action ahead of Lola's death in EastEnders
Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) has been struggling to cope with Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) prognosis in EastEnders, and his determination to prolong her life has begun to affect his relationships with his loved ones.
In a recent episode, Ben learnt that Lola was planning to be baptised, and took this as a sign that she was giving up her fight.
In a state, he paid her a visit and urged her to keep fighting, as he had promised daughter Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) that Lola would still be around in September to see her off to high school.
Furious Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) challenged Ben for his outburst, catching himself before revealing that Lola had previously asked him to help her die.
It became clear to Ben that Billy was hiding something important, and soon got the information out of Lola’s husband, Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick).
This resulted in a huge fall out between the two friends, with Jay telling Ben that he didn’t care whether he was at the baptism or not.
With Ben stewing alone in the Arches, he received a visit from Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) who delivered some home truths.
Phil revealed that Peggy Mitchell had asked him to help her end her life, but she was left to do it alone when Phil refused.
In the frank discussion, Phil told Ben to stop making things all about him and instead go and spend time with Lola.
Ben took his advice and headed over to No.18 to apologise to Lola.
However, it soon became clear that Ben hadn’t been convinced to drop it completely, as he made a secret phone call.
Asking to speak to Dr Washington, he revealed his promise to Lexi and vowed to do anything he could to keep Lola alive for as long as possible.
Just how far is he prepared to go to keep his promise?
