On March 17, The Wire and John Wick star Lance Reddick died at the age of 60. The actor’s publicist confirmed his death was of natural causes, according to EW, and tributes from fans, friends and former colleagues have poured out ever since.
One such tribute came from Deirdre Lovejoy who took on the role of ASA Rhonda Pearlman opposite Lance’s Lt Cedric Daniels in HBO’s The Wire.
While it’s been 15 years since their stint together on the lauded crime drama came to a close, Deirdre took to Instagram to share some heartfelt words about her former co-star’s passing.
The Blacklist star penned to her 20.2k followers: “My heart is heavy with the shocking news of Lance Reddick’s passing.
“He was grace, elegance, and kindness personified. Wildly talented, quietly passionate and always a gentleman.”
Deirdre continued: “I treasure our years on The Wire together and I love you Lance.”
She signed off her post with the message and hashtags: “Rest peacefully. #rip #lancereddick #thewire.”
The post itself consisted of solo snaps of Lance as well as a few photos of Deirdre and her former co-star enjoying their time during The Wire era.
Deirdre’s tribute was met with an outpouring of other kind messages from her Blacklist co-stars and other familiar faces.

Former star of the NBC drama Amir Arison weighed in: “Your chemistry together was incredible. So much love Dede. RIP LR,” followed by a love heart emoji.
While Dembe actor Hisham Tawfiq simply replied with the word: “Heartbreaking.”
While True Blood and The Good Wife star Carrie Preston replied: “It’s so sad!
“I’m so sorry you lost a friend and the world lost an amazing actor… love u,” she added.

Several fans also shared their condolences, with @eshelms commenting: “Such shocking news, he was such a force in The Wire. Daniels and Pearlman were the power couple of the show.”
While @mikailbonheur said: “So sorry for your loss, you guys had undeniable chemistry !!! @ddlovejoy.” (sic)
Lance’s death comes amidst press rounds for the next instalment in the John Wick franchise in which he reprised his role of Charon.
Besides The Wire and John Wick, his CV boasts a number of other high-profile roles from the world’s biggest small and big-screen hits.
Last year, he appeared in Netflix’s adaptation of Resident Evil as well as Amazon Prime Video’s Bosch.
His big-screen ventures have seen him star in the likes of Angel Has Fallen, Oldboy, Godzilla vs Kong and many more.
The Blacklist season 10 continues Sunday on NBC in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
