Beyond Paradise fans predict Humphrey Goodman and Neville reunion

Beyond Paradise: Humphrey Goodman returns to Caribbean

Beyond Paradise has taken an emotional turn on BBC One as Martha Lloyd (played by Sally Bretton) broke some devastating news. During a heartbreaking chat with Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall), she said she could no longer marry him as she was unable to give him the child he so desperately wanted. Fans took to social media to suggest Ralf Little will star in the final episode as Neville Parker, offering Humphrey some words of advice.

In the penultimate episode, Martha had a discussion with her mother about nearly kissing her ex, Archie Hughes (Jamie Bamber).

Martha explained: “I just don’t want him [Humphrey] to worry, or hate Archie or do anything stupid”.

She added: “I just feel like I have given Humphrey enough to digest recently” after she opened up about not wanting to continue with IVF.

Martha said although Humphrey was “saying all the right things”, it was a problem as she knew deep down he wanted a baby.

Later in Martha’s restaurant, Archie tried to explain to her why he made a move on her.

He said: “This isn’t an excuse but when you broke off our engagement I was devastated. Then you came back into my life and I realised I never stopped loving you.”

This left Martha with a lot to think about as she contemplated her own future with Humphrey.

Back on their houseboat, Martha plucked up the courage to open up to Humphrey about how she was feeling.

When he explained how his recent investigation proved what a parent would do to protect their child, Martha said: “That’s what you want, isn’t it?

“To be a parent?” Although Humphrey said “no”, Martha responded: “For once, I need you to stop being nice, stop telling me what you think I want to hear.

“Once, just once, tell me the truth.” Humphrey went on to explain how wanting a child was “not a switch he could turn off”.

He admitted: “I want to tell you that I have come to terms with it and I’m happy, that it doesn’t matter. But you are right, it’s not how I really feel. I might be able to one day, I don’t know, but right now I can’t.”

Martha thanked him for being honest before saying: “I can’t marry you like this. How can I ever believe you are happy?

“That you won’t come to resent me? I’m scared I’m not enough.” She removed her engagement ring and ran off, leaving Humphrey in tears.
