Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) has a lot on his mind in upcoming Coronation Street episodes when he discovers Summer (Harriet Bibby)’s plans to act as surrogate for Mike (Tom Lorcan) and Esther (Vanessa Hehir).

Summer comes up with the plan following the loss of the baby she was expecting and which she was planning to give to the couple for adoption.

Mike and Esther were outraged to learn that Summer had deceived them by not telling them about the miscarriage while still taking the money that they offered her.

Summer and Aaron (James Craven) needed the money to pay for Aaron’s dad to go to rehab, but after the truth was exposed Summer pledged to pay back everything she owed the couple.

When Mike and Esther’s attitude to Summer softened after this she decided to think again about their idea of her acting as a surrogate for them.

As the above video – taken from Friday December 30’s edition of the ITV soap, shows, Billy is not entirely on board with this scheme, though he tells Summer that he’ll support her.

He confides in Paul (Peter Ash) that he thinks the surrogacy idea is ‘madness.’ Paul is surprised that Billy is going along with it and asks him how long he plans to play along for.

‘I’m not feeling great about this,’ a worried Billy tells him.

‘And how would He feel?’ Paul says, pointing to the heavens.

He’s right, there’s certainly a moral dilemma for Billy, but at the moment his number one priority is trying to keep Summer close – which means he’s going to have to pretend he’s on board with her surrogacy scheme for a while yet.

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday December 30 at 8pm on ITV1.
