Corrie to air on Sunday this week before National Moment of Reflection

As Coronation Street and Emmerdale continue to catch up in their schedules, a Sunday episode of Corrie will now air on ITV, before the National Moment of Reflection for the Queen.

With coverage surrounding Queen Elizabeth II’s death and national mourning being the main priority for most channels, both ITV soaps and EastEnders have had episodes frequently pulled from scheduling, or aired at different times.

Tonight on ITV, two episodes of Emmerdale will air at 8pm and then 8:30 – these are Thursday’s and Friday’s instalments, meaning the soap will be caught up by then.

Only one episode of Emmerdale was originally set to air on Thursday due to the National Television Awards, which has now been moved to October 13.

On Sunday night, Coronation Street will air at 7-7:55pm. This episode was originally due to broadcast tonight, meaning the soap will also be caught up in their schedules.

Straight after Corrie, Downing Street will lead the nation in a minute’s silence to honour the Queen.

The public will be invited to ‘mourn and reflect on the life and legacy’ of Britain’s longest serving monarch at 8pm on Sunday – the night before Her Majesty’s state funeral.

A spokesperson for Prime Minister Liz Truss said: ‘At 8pm on Sunday 18 September, the night before the state funeral, there will be a one-minute silence where the public are invited to come together and observe a national moment of reflection to mourn and reflect on the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II.

‘The silence can be marked privately at home on your own or with friends and neighbours, out on your doorstep or street with neighbours, or at any locally arranged community events and vigils.’

People in local community groups are encouraged to take part – with those overseas urged to mark the silence at their local time.
