Corrie Toyah star spills dark car crash secret as truth about Imran exposed

Coronation Street has finally confirmed the truth about lawyer Imran Habeeb's death after he was fatally injured in a car crash.

His wife Toyah was driving the vehicle when she smashed the car into a brick wall propped up by scaffolding, which then fell and crushed the car.

Imran suffered a cardiac arrest at the scene and couldn't be revived by paramedics – and so far, fans of the show aren't sure whether Toyah meant to kill him or not.

She deleted the voicemail message from her husband after he revealed the truth about setting Abi up with a drugs bust, casting more suspicion onto herself.

But next week it's finally confirmed that Toyah did mean to crash the car – though Georgia insists that her character didn't want to kill Imran.

Speaking to Daily Star and other press, the actress said: "Toyah knew what she was doing the moment she crashed the car.

"I was shocked, because when I’ve had all these communications over the past few months and even last year with our producer Iain [MacLeod] and with Charlie [De Melo], talking about storylines, and he told us what was going to happen – that there would be an accident and that Imran was going to die.

"[He said] there would be a big 'was it Toyah’s fault or not' storyline. But he also talked about the ambiguity of it, it being a grey area between guilty and not guilty.

"So I came away thinking, 'I don’t completely know whether she did it or not', and as the scripts have come in more and more I’m still not completely sure what happened in that moment."

The star then had a huge secret to spill about the dramatic car crash scenes, as she splurged: "The thing is, we didn’t film that moment.

"When we filmed the stunt and all the stuff we did on location, Charlie and I, those few seconds where the impact happened, we never shot that.

"So it wasn’t very clear to me, as in, we haven't played this scene so I don't know exactly how it goes. It was only really confirmed when I got that batch of scripts, and I was like, 'Oh, okay, she did it!'"

But sticking up for Toyah, Georgia added: "The thing is, I still think it’s a grey area and I still think it’s very interesting because she didn’t get in the car meaning to kill him or hurt him, absolutely not.

"The way I’m trying to understand it is she had a few seconds where the red mist just descended, and she completely lost her mind for a second.

"I guess in the same way that someone could punch someone in a moment of rage or despair. I’ve never punched anyone myself so I don’t know exactly what that moment is.

"But I guess it is a slightly more extreme version of someone driving a car and going, 'I don’t care what happens' and before you know it you've hit the building."

The Corrie star admitted: "I have sympathy for her because I believe she genuinely loved him.

"If you’d have said to her in that moment, 'If you do this, he’s going to die', there’s no way she would have done it. I don’t think she had enough clarity of thought in that moment."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
