Corrie's Antony Cotton attended The Queen's funeral: 'The greatest honour'

Coronation Street star Antony Cotton has paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her funeral.

The late monarch, who died earlier this month at the age of 96, was laid to rest this afternoon after an incredibly powerful funeral service at Westminster Abbey.

A televised Committal Service took place shortly afterwards, held by the Dean of Windsor.

Celebrities including Elton John and Jamie Lee Curtis paid tribute to Her Majesty today, as did Antony Cotton, who is best known for playing Sean Tully in Coronation Street.

The 47-year-old star revealed that he was in attendance at the Queen’s funeral, branding the whole experience a day that he will ‘never forget’.

‘Well…where to begin?!,’ he wrote on Twitter.

‘I had the greatest honour of being invited to Her Majesty’s funeral. So proud to see so many pals working on it, and doing their Queen and country proud.
